If Cain is having success but gets caught and finished at any point a rematch is always interesting. Similarly, if JDS is able to have some success hurting/landing on Cain but gets overwhelmed a rematch could be interesting enough down the road.

Any result that involves JDS winning likely forces a 4th fight since the 2nd fight was such a domination. If Cain wins, unless it's some miracle comeback, it makes JDS' first win look like a fluke.

I agree 100% and I don't think the outcome of this fight will matter at all...they'll fight again for sure. The only way #4 doesn't happen for a long time is if someone else becomes the hw champ very soon

i think it will happen. have you seen the HW division?! piss poor and paper thin both spring to mind. whoever wins id like to see werdum get a shot and maybe antoher contender after that but jds/cain 4 will happen after that.

If JDS wins a fourth fight is pretty much guaranteed. If Cains wins in the exact same fashion a fourth fight will be miles down the road if it happens at all.

I don't care whether it's a war or competitive or not.

I'm in the minority here, but I think the best guys should get title shots.
There is too much of "now it's this guy's turn because the other guy on a tear already had his shot".

If they have to fight 10x, so be it.
Can you imagine in another sport if matchmaking took precedent over earning the title shot? Like... oh no, Federer lost to Nadal badly last time, so even though Federer earned his shot at he final let's have someone else play Nadal.... or a team already lost to their rivals in the Super Bowl, so let's not let the loser play in the Super Bowl this year, even if they win the conference championship. Makes no sense to me.

Agreed, and even then if the loser keeps beating all the other potential contenders I wouldnt be surprised if they rematch again

Only if JDS loses and it is very competitive. I think if Cain loses he might drop down to 205 and fight Jones and let DC stay at HW since he is a bit older and the weight cut is probably harder for him given his past.

Past Cigano and Cain, and maybe Cormier, the dropoff is significant at HW.
