Could we list the best merited crossover grapplers? Not ones that crossed over to MMA but rather people with succes in two or more grappling sports

and in "pure" grappling sports so Fedors judo + combat sambo doesn't count

    Mark Kerr
    NCAA Div 1 champ
    US Freestyle champ
but freestyle/folkstyle isn't that much of a difference

ADCC 3 time champ + super fight
but it is just one competition

    but you get my drift

    but more like
    Nick Tritton
    junior championships?

Remember names like Dave Camarillo and Edson Carvalho being mentioned
    gotta be loads from Brazil?

Steve Mocco for wrestling and some judo

so who are the most wellrounded with merits in 2 or more sports?

edit: almost forgot Ivar Johansson Ivar Johansson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
as far as I can see the only guy with olympic golds in both freestyle AND greco, same year nonetheless (1932) and two weightclasses aswell

Jake Shields-2x CA JC All-American. ADCC 3rd place, has wins over a lot of good BJJ guys.
Ben Askren-4x NCAA All American- 2x Runner-up, 2x Champion, 2x Dan Hodge Winner, 2008 FS Olympian, FILA World Grappling Games Champion, ADCC Veteran. I think there is more, not sure.

    In my club :

    Hakim Djabali

French national champion in sport sambo in 2010
Bronze at the European sport Sambo in 2010.
2 time BJJ world champion at Blue and Purple belt (his name was horribly misspelled by the brazilians as Abel Djaboli. :p)
Just entered the France's division one in Judo.

Hard to find all his accomplishment, especially in Judo, he's got no website, he doesn't brag about it all,...Still a dude to be followed.

I don't think winning the FILA grappling games equates to a super high level... I think that is about like winning a NAGA tourney... I like Askren, just sayin, he hasn't really had any success to speak of in submission grappling.

you're actually quote wrong. the world level games, like the ones my teammate tom lecuyer competes at, are highly competitive and every person there would easily win their naga division. i consider the fila games the AAA to the major leagues of grappling.

All I know is that Jacob Volkmann, Ben Askren, and Zack Makovski are all "world champions" by winning the FILA grappling games. But none of them would even come close to winning mundials or ADCC. ADCC is the world championships of no-gi grappling IMO.

Ben got tapped in his first match in about 2 minutes I think in ADCC. Volkmann vs.
Marcelo in a no-gi grappling match, who do you got? I will take Marcelo.

Maybe it is higher level than a NAGA, but I would put a guy like Glover who still competes in GQ well ahead of a grappler like Volkmann. WELL ahead.

The Fila Worlds is probably on a par with the bigger NAGA or Grapplers Quests and some of the IBJJF No Gi events. Small fry comp compared to ADCC.

Will be interesting to see who goes to the new World Pro No Gi comp being run next year.
