It was the UFC that decided to move to using USADA right, not any state or federal mandate or whatever?

In that regard couldn't UFC be like fuck this and go some other way for drug testing if they wanted, or do they have to use USADA now?

Just curious.

That would be a clear admission of the abject failure of their fighters to keep their damn selves clean

The athletic commissions are all drafting up new, stricter, testing guidelines/punishments aren't they? I think it's too late, even if they wanted to(which would be stupid, at this point).

If they back out now it looks like they endorse PED use.

This USADA shit would never exist with a fighters union - its possible the creation of one could force this to be scaled back.

they could but they want to have the reputation of being a clean sport

it was a big reason they finally got New York probably

You reckon? It seemed more like to do with politics and behind the scenes stuff with unions and petty type nonsense.

A fighters union would def help with a lot of things. This is the problem with the UFC bring both the promoter and regulatory body so much of the business.

If they switched to a similar setup like Vada they could. Just drop testing and go back to commission only? Don't think they would like the optics on it.

I think getting NY had s lot to do with a specific senator dying

It was one of the red herrings politicians were using against the UFC. So it did help even if it was faux outrage.

New York was just an example

if they drop USADA, you can bet Culinary Union will use it against the UFC and its safety

Too late, Nevada has already implemented new anti doping regulations that basically parrot USADa now.

Was that the chap O'Reilly or another bloke who was caught taking bribes or something?

I remember that O'Reilly guy doing an interview and paraphrasing what McCain said back in the day and other stupid crap.

if they wanted to void their contract and most likely pay way more money in the end, sure.

why would they do that, how about they stop cheating and try to win fair?

They freaked out when Anderson tested positive and now they're realizing the consequences of their snap decision.
