Could the UFC arbitrarily bypass USADA if they wanted?

I mean USADA works for the UFC. After knowing about the positive test. Couldnt Dana have said. "He failed. That's sucks and all but he's still gonna fight this weekend."

UFC hired USADA. They technically do what the UFC says. They work for the UFC. UFC pays them.

It seems like UFC really is cleaning up its act. Most likely because of the sale. UFC could have just said. We will punish Jones AFTER the fight. Which would have saved the UFC money by still keeping the main event but at the same time being able to withheld Jones' bonuses and ppv points money.

Maybe there is a contract UFC signed with USADA that their punishments can't be under minded by the UFC brass or else they wouldn't do business with each other. Then again USADA wants UFCS business.

Does anyone else see a huge conflict of interest here?

I have wondered this myself. It wouldn't be the first time the UFC had questionable timing of drug test results (Vitor and Jones if I recall). Maybe the threat of USADA going public and exposing the UFC is motive enough to just deal with it.

Or….the UFC is really committed to this testing regardless of the consequences.

I mean, they would never do it because the credibility they'd lose would cause far more damage than scrapping the fight. Mainstream media would be all over it.

Probably but there would be no point. USADA is doing what the UFC brought them in to do, to bypass them would kind of defeat the purpose.

Don't failed tests then go through the Athletic Commission who are the ones that dole out punishment and USADA are just the ones testing? Once the athletic commission knows, I think it's out of the UFC's hands.

USADA are probably legally bound to tell the UFC about a failed test and the UFC are probably legally bound to tell the Athletic Commission once they know of a failed test.

They would have about the same credibility as the WWE ....... they should of never gone that route but once they did no turning back.

The athletic commision would not sanction the fight

NSAC would have shut that down so fast. If the UFC kept pushing for it the commission could have even pulled their license. I wouldn't challenge the NSAC on this one.

Haha. From a vitor fan. Give it up Vitor.

No chance. They'd lose all respect.

Oh wow. If that's how it works. That's like me paying someone to install and app into my car and the moment I go over the speed limit. It sends the recording directly to the police department and the police then send me a ticketo in the mail. That would blow. Lol

They could but then they would lose all credibility they have tried to build up.

Not without a fair bit of controversy.
Nah. They could have justified it. Innocent till proven guilty. UFC could have said they were waiting for the B test to come back. Before knowing without a shadow of a doubt he failed. But so far it seems the B sample hasn't been tested yet.

As long as they didn't inform the NSAC.

Hey gotta give credit where credit is due, the WWE just suspended one of their top guess for failing a wellness test. Roman Reigns had their World Title and lost it on a Sunday and was suspended the following tues. Obviously since its a worked show they were able to have him loose before suspending him but they didn't sweep the test under the carpet, they put him on the shelf for 30 days cause he failed.

Well I think they can. Dana seemed like he made Novitsky eat blame by making him give that odd speech, especially when Novitsky started talking about main event replacement/alteration.

Dana really looked furious with USADA, which may indicate that he wanted to hide the test results.
