what was that thing@first? it looked like Fabs was pretty hurt right away,
should miocic have follwed thru more?

He could have, but he was so relaxed he wasn't too worried about it.

Probably.

He finished him 10 seconds later, doesn't make much of a difference. Just goes to show he was a much better boxer than Fabio, rocked him on twice in 30 seconds and didn't get hit once.

He was baiting him at first trying to sneakily hit him with a power shot when he moved in for the kill. Stipe rightfully held back.

he let fabio get his composure back after the first exchange.

you know i kind of thought that too. although he seemed genuinely hurt, was it real?

He probably didn't know how hurt Fabio was and respected his toughness. It was a smart move. If a guy is really hurt you should intelligently try to land another power shot not go full Erick Silva and throw flying knees with no setup.

I do think in a situation like that it would have been good to just step back a bit and throw a kick from the back leg with Maldonado on the defensive with his back to the cage.

He probably could have, but it's smart to stay patient and not rush in to try to finish. Fighters often get knocked out when they get in a hurry and get reckless. As it turns out he still wiped the floor with a guy known for his durability in a little over 30 seconds.
