While certainly no guarantee, there's a pretty clear and very possible path for Mark Hunt to get one last title shot.

Overeem and Arlovski will soon battle for the HW Glass Cannon Title. Considering Overeem just TKO'd the longtime #2 HW and Arlovski's last fight was effectively a title eliminator, it stands to reason that the winner of this fight will be next in line for a title shot.

Fortunately for Mark Hunt, the UFC doesn't deal in reason and I could easily see Cain skip the line with a win over Travis Browne.

If Cain vs Werdum/Stipe is booked, Hunt could easily fight Overeem/Arlovski for the next title shot. Considering the fragility of Overeem and Arlovski, an early KO from Hunt is just slightly less than a foregone conclusion.

Yes. With the state of the division he could probably even get two!

Ben should get the shot before hunt if he beats JDS.
Huge Hunt fan though

I could see Hunt not only get another shot, but win it as well. Or he could lose five in a row.

I really hope he gets one last crack at the title before hanging it up.

Hunt is 12-10, he's a nice guy and fun fighter to watch but he's 2 of his last 4. He doesnt deserve a title shot.

Fedors resume keeps looking better and better, haha.

And I think with that kind of power and striking, a title run is always a possibility.

I thought Hunt specifically said this was his last contract. I don't see him in the title hunt right now. Too many people ahead of him. Just give him one more victim (probably AA) and let him walk off into the sunset.

Deserving one and getting one have increasingly little to do with each other in the UFC. Especially in the HW division where a 3 fight win streak gets you into the top 5.

sure, why not. he only had 1 title fight in UFC before and he took it on only 2 weeks notice, and he was dominating Werdum at very high altitude, apart from the knee..Hunt was dominating that fight

Well I expect Caïn to get injured again, so Hunt Vs Browne at 200. Easy win for Hunt. Will become a top contender soon no doubt.

I dunno if it is possible for him to get one, but I will say this: i'll be able to die a happy man if he does.

Hes got one fight left on his contract, and has said this is his last contract.

So its title shot next fight or likely not at all

He'd have to beat 2-3 more relevant guys, in a row, to get there. Possible, but unlikely. Oddly enough, the thin hw division has 3-4 viable contenders right now... Stipe, Rothwell, Reem at the top of the list. And even other names like Cain, Arlovski, and JDS are only a win or two away. Hunt would have to go on a tear to get another shot; wouldn't put it past the Super Samoan, though.

This and Werdum is one of the worst possible match ups for him

The inside word on this is he only wants to do super fights for UFC in Aus and he's been approached to extend his contract further. He's fresh enough to fight as soon as UFC200... he was carrying an injury going into the Mir fight (injured 2 weeks before during sparring)

That would require a HW champion that fights more than once a year, sadly.
