In b4 a bunch of NBA KG gifs.

    For cereal tho,

Kelvin has knocked down all 5 of his last opponents, dude has power in both hands and decent wrestling, seems to be improving with each fight.

Only losses are 2 split decisions and a loss to an oversized MW and former champ Weidman.

If he wins his next two he’s the undisputed champ.

I think people are sleeping on Kelvin and his potential, just like a lot of people did on the TUF season he won.

Can he be the Mexican champion with the longevity and durability that Cain never had?

Or is he out of place and need a 175lb division?

    What say you sherbros?

Cain was a lot more dangerous than Kelvin. There was a span of time when Cain stepped into the cage we knew there was gonna be a mauling. KG never had that.

Gastelum has always reminded me a bit of "Downsized Cain".

He has high strike pressure, boxing based, and also a probably-Not-The-Apex-Of-Clean-Diets, judging by his bodyfat percentage.
(BTW....family thing....did anyone notice his sister on Embedded Ep1 ?? Just saying.....respect to everyone but.......it's a family diet issue...).

Huge fan of Kelvin, and my belief is that he knocks out Adesanya on Saturday. Sooner or later. He is an under-rated fast-hands heavy puncher and there's very few UFC fighters that can beat Kelvin Gastelum. Adesanya is EXTREMELY elusive, he can slip and bob and weave with the absolute best of fighters and boxers, -- Adesanya's punch evasion is world-class -- .....but....sooner or later Kelvin will connect with a fight-stopping shot.

"Don't fold; you're one flop away from 4 of a kind!"

He does seem to improve each fight. I'm not quite sold yet. He could be great, or a perennial top 10er. I'm sorry, but KTFO'ing Kennedy (on a 2 year layoff) and Bisping just didn't say much to me. It tells us he doesn't suck, but it doesn't tell us much about his upside, at all. For that we only have the Weidman and Jacare fights.

But I seem to be in the huge minority. Most love the guy. Definitely a fan favorite. And I don't dislike him (don't confuse fight analysis with like or dislike, please).

    We'll see.

I think he has a pretty good shot at getting this interim title, and almost no shot at beating Whittaker. So good for him for getting this payday.

PS I love being wrong when I downplay a fighter.

Israel is not unhittable. It'll be good to see two guys who aren't ancient fighting. I have no idea who will win though. If kevin uses his wrestling, I think he has a good chance.

Exactly I agree - Adensanya is not unhittable. I think it should be very interesting, Kelvin is (generally in his demeanour) quite under-stated and I do think he is under-rated by opponents. He is really quite experienced now, and I am sure he understands this is his BIG MOMENT to shine under the spotlight and I do expect Kelvin to step-up and win the fight. Whoever wins definitely deserves a future fight with Robert Whittaker (who is an elite champion, excellent in every respect, beat Romero twice, that takes a LOT of skill and technique and endurance and heart).

Personally I think Gastelum vs Whittaker could be a Fight for the Ages.

Reading your title, i was what kevin garnett has to do with this.
That being said, gastellum is good and well rounded but he doesnt have the "freak" cardio and agressivness of Cain in his prime

Different fighter completely. Kelvins footwork and hands are super underrated and his wrestling is over rated.

MiniCain doesn’t get nearly as much respect as he should and as much as I recognize SB’s momentum I just can’t look passed Kelvin.

    Incredible fight. Can’t wait.
