Julian Jackson was arguably P4P the hardest puncher of all time. Marvin Hagler had arguably the best chin of all time. What happens when an immovable object meets an irresistible force?

Say Jackson lands a bomb of a right hand on Hagler's chin. Could he knock him out?

Sure. Hagler may have got hit a lot but how often did he get tagged with classic KO punches? The big shot Hearns wobbled him with was on the forehead, as I recall. I struggle to think of when I saw him hurt aside from that.

Hagler had a great chin but I've always believed it's more about how you get caught. Mugabi probably hurt him worse than anyone in the fights I saw (have to say that because I haven't watched every single fight) Leonard stunned him in the second round. Top fighters rarely get hit with 100 percent power, they know a lot of tricks to pick off or lessen the effects of blows.

Hagler was one of the more durable fighters that we've ever seen, as you've mentioned ts. So if anyone was gonna eat a puncher like Jackson's best shots and keep coming, he'd be one of the top choice fighters you would pick to do it. He was also just on another level of fighter than Jackson was.

But, did Julian Jackson have enough power to put a dent in Hagler's chin if he landed a well timed bomb or two, despite Hagler's atg chin? I think he would easily be capable of doing that. Jackson is one of a few select few consensus p4p punchers of all time.

He could knock anybody out if he landed perfectly. Hagler would be a tough out tho, that's for sure. And Hagler would kick the shit out of him if they actually stepped in the ring together but that's another story.

Interesting one, given the fact that Hagler was never really badly hurt.
I'd say Jackson could spark out almost any man on the planet in his prime if he connected clean.
But Hagler? I don't know if Jackson would get there with one. But when you have one-shot KO power, it only takes one.

I'd say yes to "could" and I'd say I don't think so to "would".

even powder puff punches kayo guys when they catch them right, I always go back to howard davis/ Edwin Rosario, he didn't kayo Rosario but he almost accomplished something that Chavez and all the rest didn't, he almost knocked the man down, Rosario was inhumanly tough and never went down but powder punching davis almost did it. Sonny Liston is another who got clobbered by arguably an even better puncher than him in Cleveland Williams but didn't got down and then he gets staggered and then kayoed by Ali.

If you check this round out and watch real close, you can see Hagler deflects a lot of shots off the shoulders or the top of the head. He never sticks his chin up. Shit like that is why I always pick Hagler in the pick em fights with guys like Golovkin. No one could out fight Hagler, IMO. Outbox him, sure. But no one could land enough shots on the guy without being put on the defensive.

As hard as Julian Jackson could punch, Hagler could also take a great shot too. Hearns power wise is up there with Julian Jackson, there really isn't much to separate them. If Hearns couldn't KO Hagler then I don't think Julian could either. And if they met in a boxing match I'd pick Hagler to win 9 times out of 10.

Also Jackson hit McClellan with some big shots in their first fight and didn't knock out Gerald and I think Haglers chin was better so in my mind he'd survive getting clocked by Jackson too.

McCallum also took Jackson's punches just fine.

I feel GGG actually fights in a very similar fashion. He uses his forward momentum, as all we his arms, elbows and shoulders to block and absorb shots.

Just Hagler is better at pretty much everything GGG does or is known for.

Fights don't always come down to who hits harder, but rather who can take the other guy's power better. I don't know here. Like many have said: Hagler doesn't get hit too cleanly, but Julian had that legitimate "one hitter quitter" in his gloves.

If Jackson hits anybody flush on the chin with his money punch they go lights out...including Hagler. That said, many fighters if allowed to hit someone flush would KO anyone Randall Bailey for one. Heck even B level guys like Edison Miranda and Bert Cooper would KO the most iron chinned fighters if they hit them flush, problem is they didn't have the all around skills to actually do it.

He'd better bring a baseball bat.

I guess a perfect punch by Jackson would KO pretty much anyone at 160 in the history of mankind, that being said it was extremely difficult to land the perfect punch on Hagler.

Crap, it's been years since I've watched that. Mugabi showed a hell of a chin in that fight... Hagler definitely ruined him, after that war. He went from taking some bombs from Hagler to getting badly rocked every time Terry Norris landed on him and KO'ed him ugly.
