Could Glover Dominate Izzy on the ground?

Yes.
He obviously could. Glover gets Skinny down, it's donkey kong smash then pretzel time.
Skinny wants none of that smoke.

wrong. contenders CONTEND FOR TITLES. if you never get a title shot, you're not contending.

Once again, totally wrong. You're a contender whether or not you get a title shot. If you're ranked high you're a contender. It has nothing to do with whether you actually get a shot or not. By your logic Tony Ferguson is not a contender. LOL

Yes, horribly. Glover is one of the most skilled LHW's, also one of the slowest.

uhh ...no Tony is a contender because he's CONTENDED FOR TITLES.

do you even realize by your definition Kevin Lee is a "contender" at LW?? anybody who follows the sport knows he's not a contender.

LOL@people using Brunson and etc. to claim Israel has good movement and takedown defense.

Never fought a real good MMA wrestler, like Weidman, until now. Brunson is regular and Romero is known for almost never use wrestling.

And Glover? Come on, Glover is old and slow today. Put Cormier there, a specialist that, even TODAY, would throw Israel outside the octagon. Easy. That I am talking about, someone who uses wrestling with efficiency, a real good MMA wrestler.

Glover's so underrated. His top game is some of the best.

The pic you posted sums it up perfectly. "in order to" means "for the purpose of"

A qualified opponent who has worked his way up the ranks for the purpose of challenging for the world title.

Doesn't mean that they have, or ever will. It means they are eligible for consideration as a worthy title challenger.

anybody is eligible to fight for a title. Conor McGregor wasn't even ranked when he fought for the 155lb title.

it's beside the point anyway, Bader and Phil Davis weren't in a position to fight for a title. Bader had to beat Rumble and that didn't happen, and Davis was never even close.

Vettori did so Glover obviously could, the problem is getting him there. Israel has faced wrestlers but he hasn't really fought grapplers, Vettori was probably the best and he controlled him.

Glover is an absolute beast on the ground. The difference between their ground skills is huge.

But I don't think he has the wrestling to get izzy down.

if he can get him to the ground possibly but that's a lot easier said than done, Izzy is extremely springy and his speed is miles apart

I think Vettori could in a rematch. I don’t think glover has the wrestling.

Israel has a weak ground game unlike someone like Anderson Silva.

Really think about it? Sure...izzy can probably butcher Jan with speed... But even Old man Glover is BRUTAL on the ground. I cant help but think of this match up being and bad one for Izzy. Glover has shown the ability and willingness to implement a grapple heavy approach. Am i crazy for thinking this? If he can beat Santos this is a legit possibility lol.
I think Glover gets picked apart on the feet before he can even get it to the ground. He’s not any faster or less predictable than he was in his last title fight (six years ago), and though Adesanya isn’t Jones, he matches up very well with Glover.

I think Texiera is a tougher matchup for Adesanya than Blachowicz is...

I think you are bugging

Maybe...

But I don’t see Adesanya having a problem making either of them miss him all night.

But we have seen Texiera’s grappling game in the past, against bigger and stronger fighters than Adesanya. We haven’t seen much in the grappling department from Blachowicz.

I understand Blachowicz does have a black belt in Jiu-jitsu, but we really don’t know how effective he can be with it, or if he can even get Adesanya on the ground. Don’t forget that he was 30-25ed against Cory Anderson in their initial bout, where Anderson actually grappled. Aside from his fight with Manuwa, I don’t recall him showing any really good grappling (of course that’s mainly because his striking has usually been all he’s needed to get the win).

We’ve actually seen Texiera be successful with his grappling multiple times, winning with strikes and submissions.

Against Adesanya, I think making it a grappling match is their best bet, and, just based on what I’ve seen, Texiera seems to be better in that regard.

This is true. Point is, is he hasn't faced a true wrestler yet, and theres a bunch of great strikers that are evasive, look at Conor when he faced Khabib, but once their put against the cage it's a whole different animal. Glover would absolutely be a hard fight for him, if Souza would not have fallen in love with striking he would be a sollid test also. And so would Hernanson. Until i see Izzy fight against a solid grappler, I can't say he's a world beater like everyone else. Jan is also a black belt in jj and really good on the ground, but he's gonna try to knock him out with his "polish power" as he constantly says in every interview. I'm not writing Jan off like everyone else, i think he has a shot. And Izzy losing would be HORRIBLE for uncle Dana

Who is a "true wrestler"?

He stuffed all of Brunson's TD, and Brunson outwrestled Romero for two rounds.

You're speculating about him losing to fighters who don't even exist on the roster at MW and LHW.

Yeah he was a beast, not strictly true about DC, but yeah he certainly was more successful.

Did you even watch that fight?

Jones stuffed all of DC's TDs in the early rounds and embarrassed DC by taking him down three times in the fourth.

DC spent the duration of the fifth trying to get a TD. Jones wasn't even defending that slam and he got back up immediately.

What makes you think I didn't? I was responding to someone saying DC had 0 success trying to wrestle, that Gif proves otherwise.

That's all there is to it, calm your socks.
