We know that Anderson, GSP, Fedor and McGregor are in GOAT discussion, but if Cormier beats both Jones and Gustafsson and defends his title few times and stays undefeated could he be in the goat discussion? He is 35 and has 4-5 years remaining (if no injurys then at least 8 fights, could possibly end up 22-0)

unless he can become Irish and change his name to Conor McGregor.... then no, no he cant

In short yes, if he collects Jones and Gus under his resume, hopefully he and Cain have a falling out, if he collects Cains scalp then it's a done deal. Jones has that same possibility though.

If Aldo wins his next 10 straight, could he become the GOAT?

If TJ never loses a fight again, will he be GOAT?

If Anderson comes back and defeats Jacare, Machida, and Weidman in a free for all hell in a cell match, will he be GOAT?

I doubt it. He came to the game pretty late. He's probably no longer in his physical prime.

man, cormier vs. cain would be competitive

cain is a fucking beastly demon but cormier has technique out the wazzoo and could just control him all 5 rounds... also hits hard as hell

had he started younger he would have become the Gee.o.a.tee

Isn't he old? There is no way that he can put together the resume to be the best ever at his age. You know what sucks about MMA? People think that anyone has the chance at being the GOAT. Its kind of a joke.

He very well could. He's an amazing athlete and superb fighter with awesome fight IQ, durability, cardio and technique.

But wouldn't that make it all the more impressive if he can beat Jones AND Gus?

He doesn't have enough time but he can do enough so that most would speculate that he would have if he'd started earlier.

He loses to Jones and Gus.

Rumble might even beat him.

To be even considered isn't it fair to say he would have to be considered the best and dominate a division and clear out a division over 4 or 5 years?

I guess the shorter road might be if you can take out the top three LHWs then return to HW beating the best there and then retiring undefeated. That might create enough mystique to cut some years off.

he has a shot to do something big and special thats for sure...
