When Dana met Conor for the first time, he said ``if this kid can throw a punch, he can be a star`` and this led me to believe that Conor already had an insane charisma and it got me wondering, if he fought outside promotions, could he be as famous without the UFC like Jake Paul or other social media stars?

A star? Maybe, probably/ A superstar? Don't think so.

Rizin in Boxing then yes.

I don't see that it would have happened that way with Conor. Jake Paul is an annoying troll, but he played a very smart game that Conor probably wouldn't have been capable of. Getting popular and rich from fighting washed up fighters is a far different venture than fighting the best like Conor did. Much harder to set up a situation where you can get rich in the way Jake Paul did. Conor is more of a loose cannon and I don't see him as capable of doing what Jake Paul did.

He was the champion of something before UFC, wasn't he? How many threads did you make about him then?

Yes absolutely. Hes type of person who succeeds wherever he chooses. Fashion industy, whiskey, movies.... you name it.

People would buy whiskey because someone they don't know was selling it? Without the UFC noone would have really known who he was for most part, how would he have even had been a part of owning the whiskey without the UFC

No, he was unemployed and needed the UFC to do the initial push. Where else would he have been able to gain the recognition? He isn't a youtube star, nor a tok tok or anything like that. If he never came to UFC he would not be well known much at all.

I thought maybe he would make a YouTube channel later on and have his personality shine through his videos.

No. The UFC was his vessel to success. There are other fighters that could have been huge stars if they came to the UFC (not Conor level) and didn’t get eaten up by the competition. Someone like MVP would have been huge in the UFC.

Of course. He already had peoples attention,UFC just amplified it

Of course not
He got a massive push, but to his credit he ran with the ball early on and cemented his stardom with Aldo and I guess the performance with Eddie which led to Floyd

If Conor never joined the UFC we would likely never heard of him. He would likely be in prison for multiple convictions imo without the UFC

I only heard him because Joe Rogan tweeted when Rogan said he looks forward to one day see Conor fight in the UFC. Also local MMA championships are completely worthless.

The first time I heard about Conor was summer of 2012 when there was a thread called ``Who is the Naseem Hamed of MMA`` and people said there is unknown up and comer who kind of is like Naseem.

I think conor would be star in any big organization. With flashy knockouts, trash talk and confidence, like he had when he came to ufc, he wouldve become mma superstar in bellator or one championships also. Ufc just amplified it with its massive platform, but he wouldve been great without ufc also. Like fedor

MVP has a nice style but he has no charisma at all. Not to mention throwing a pokemon ball around makes him look like a silly person even despite brutally KOing someone. His debut fight was epic though, not gonna lie.

Hope he does. Tired of hearing about him in regards to MMA.

Actually I always wanted to know what is the difference between a star and a superstar?

This is true but if he had a YouTube channel and talked shit like he used to do, he could buy ads like Chris Pizzo and became a giant internet celebrity who happens to be a fighter.
