Could they swallow their egos?

Are their philosophies too incompatible? Are they pandering to opposite crowds?

They should both run separately. Bernie for the socialists, Shilldog for the confused and easily duped, Cruz for the conservatives, Trump for the politically uninterested but angry. It's not perfect, but it's better than just R vs D.

Bernie's wife already said that she and he (and hopefully Bernie's supporters) will vote for Clinton if Bernie doesn't win the primary. They aren't actually that far off in terms of policy or ideology. While Trump is on the opposite extreme. Bernie wants to be president because he genuinely believes that policy should move in the direction that he wants it to, not because he hates liberal political activism or something.

I see the problem here being that the agreement would have to be to run on trade, corruption, and a more isolationist FP. This agreement would be a gentlemen's agreement, and that won't cut it.

Maybe if they both lose though, they will both be forced to see that only by uniting the anti-establishment wings of both parties, is any real change made possible.
