John Duddy and Miguel Cotto are 2 completely different types/levels of fighters - honestly, I'd say Chavez Jr. was slightly better off fighting the more mechanical Kelly Pavlik (even if he had more power) than Cotto, who has good power and a lot more agility/boxing finesse. Unless Roach does a miracle job on Chavez, I have to go with Cotto, either by mid-late (T)KO or decision.

I didn't think Chavez would go back to 154.

And Dan Rafael reports that it'll be in Vegas or Atlantic City.

I hope this fight comes together. It would sell huge in TX with PR vs Mex. I think Cotto would win by late rds stoppage.

i see it looking a lot like Cotto-Foreman. Another body shot KO for Cotto.

I think Cotto has a distinct power advantage that will show in the mid rounds,i see Cotto finishing him not with a single punch, but with a steady beating to the body and head.

They should matchup Chavez jr. with Yuri Foreman before feeding him to Cotto. That's a fight I wouldn't mind seeing, and one that i'm less certain of what the outcome will be.

I don't see this ending well at all for Junior. This is a gigantic step-up, Almost fighting Bums to fighting an actual champion. I see him being over-whelmed by a better fighter, He should have picked an easier name to fight.

The cotto that beat Foreman was a little less than impressive, and the Chavez that beat Duddy showed a lot of improvements..

for these reasons, I'm looking forward to this fight. Was it Foreman's movement, or has cotto lost a step? Will Chavez pace put Cotto in a similar situation that he was in when he fought Margarito?

Interesting fight, but Chavez Jr is still somewhat unproven to me. I think Cotto's strength and experience will allow him to dominate Chavez.

i agree, and i dont think cotto has the power he had at the lower weights. I think it will be more competative than people think. Jr has a big height advantage

cotto will destroy him, worse than foreman. Its a good fight for cotto on the comeback trail, and I do want to see chavez get destroyed, but I still don't like the fight. first pac/marg, mosely/mora, now this shitty fight, I don't like this backwards trend away from competitive fights to bullshit fights.

Chavez jr has done nothing to show that he should be in the same ring with a world class guy like Cotto. this match up makes no sense to me. beating duddy should not mean much.

Okay, he dominated a sub world class fighter in his last fight. That suggested that he is a step above Duddy in terms of class. This combined with the fact that Cotto was not very impressive in his last fight, and it seems logical to me that these guys match up.

Chavez is not the worst guy to get an opportunity like this, and he has had some momentum moving upward.

I agree. Cotto's looked off to me since after the Marg fight but in the Foreman fight, he seemed to be lacking in his usual power. 154 might actually be too much for him. I can see this fight being competitive, especially if Chavez Jr. keeps working with Roach. I'd still bet on Cotto by mid-late KO to the body, but Chavez will be a tough job. That being said, I don't think Chavez has done enough to earn the shot at Cotto over Andre Berto or Alfredo Angulo.
