Saw a clip of Joe Rogan confidently proclaiming that the JFK assassination was a conspiracy. A pretty popular opinion shared by many people (certainly online).

There is overwhelming evidence that Oswald was the lone assassin, but this doesn't seem to be enough to convince people.

A few vids (there's plenty more, but these were concise) that addresses some of the common JFK conspiracy theories:

Anything that contradicts the preconceived notion of a conspiracy is often dismissed.

The conspiracy culture has really taken off and it seems people are now questioning and dismissing almost everything. Anti-vaccination movement, flat earth, fake moonlanding, not believing dinosaurs existed... the list goes on and on.

Ok, rant over... what do you make of all this?

LOL
TS is a CIA shill, couldn't be more obvious

I support conspiracy theories. I am trying to understand the Flat Earth one righ tnow .... all science and shit.

Every time Wikileaks makes a dump, Alex Jones seems a little less crazy.

Ron Paul just had an interview where he says the cia being involved in kennedy's assassination is a for gone conclusion.

I think paul knows more than you, including access to people who work in the cia.

I would bet you anything that behind closed doors bernie would say the same.

People like riddles wrapped up in a mystery inside enigmas. What can you do? They're fun.

Governments and media has never ever lied to people so questioning stuff like magic bullets and buildings collapsing out of sympathy is a sure sign of insanity.

duh.

Did someone say lizards?

There are some conspiracies like JFK WTC7 that are worth asking questions about, however guys like Alex Jones who turn absolutely every event into a conspiracy do more harm to their cause then good. I'm sorry but things like Sandy Hook were very much real.

i feel like it can be so easily disproven just from people going on plane flights

like ive flown from the US to ireland and also from the US to asia. i went over ocean both times (didnt backtrack across the US)

how do they reconcile

Are you asking why people are questioning and dismissing whatever official story/narrative they have been told to believe?

You haven't been paying much attention for the last few decades, huh?

I'm a fan of conspiracy as a matter of entertainment. My life is way too good and too soft to take up any banners for the most part. I always think on this regarding conspiracy: "Truth is stranger than fiction."

Funny, flat earth stuff seems to be going around right now... I too am looking into this and thinking this should be impossible (that earth is flat). I think it speaks in a way to what TS is referencing though, people greatly distrust authority right now, and rightly so!

I pride myself on keeping an open mind, but I must admit flat earth is really tough on this one... it's just too fantastical and should be rather easily solved by numbers/science. Unfortunately I am woefully ignorant of this area of science and find myself having to defer to consensus at this point (which I HATE, because consensus I believe is often used to stifle debate in many instances).

Nonetheless, venturing slightly into this topic has given me some perspective of how most people I know probably react whenever I share some of my beliefs. I am lucky though, because I have some fairly intelligent and open minded friends/family who can really challenge me if I'm straying too far...

The magic bullet theory isn't the official version of events (warren commission).

Is there a point where you can take criticism/questioning/cynicism too far? with the more absurd stuff like flat earth they are even questioning pictures of earth, saying they are manipulated for evil purposes. It feels like you could take any subject (maybe gravity or something) and go off the deep end with it.

Symptomatic of living in a 'post-truth' world. There is this notion that the elites (e.g. scientists) have an ulterior, secret agenda, so they are disavowed by a certain part of the population. That absence of trust opens the door for a whole bunch of nonsense, like flat earth theory, anti-vac, etc. which some people are perfectly ready to accept, since it feeds their narrative of the secret elite, liberal agenda to destroy the Western world.
