Who knows ? I never quite believed bat soup theory. For “ too long didn't read “ peeps the cliff notes are “yes” it came from animal but not bat, and came from a lab in Wuhan, not a meat market . I don’t know either way . I’m just a sherdogger.

All coronaviruses originate in bats- this includes SARS, MERS and several others that have spread to livestock and pet populations but haven't made the jump to humans. The lab theory is unnecessary because bats harbor all of these diseases naturally. Once you get a live bat within proximity of another animal that can breathe in its exhaled droplets (like say a pangolin or a human), the disease crosses species. Contrary to popular belief, eating a bat won't spread it. It requires a breathing infected bat to cough on you.
And there are many more pandemics waiting to happen.
