Do you agree with thread title?

I'm not talking about the size/viewership of these fights. I'm talking about the actual magnitude of these match ups.

Conor was the FW champ challenging the LW champ, Alvarez. Both champs had 0 title defenses.

Cormier is the LHW champ challenging the HW champ. Both have 3 title defenses.

Both matchups are/were champion vs champion but clearly Stipe and Cormier are much much better champions than Conor and Eddie.

So is this the best superfight in UFC history? (not biggest, best)

BJ vs GSP was the biggest superfight in terms of skill. They are 2 of the greatest and most gifted fighters ever and were in their prime. They are also arguably GOATs of their weight classes which neither DC or Stipe are. (DC might be because Jones is a fuck up).

But DC vs Stipe is nuts

GSP BJ 2 is still the biggest/best in history

I don't even consider McGregor-Alvarez a superfight. I suppose technically it is, but like you said, zero title defenses each.

Stipe/Cormier is way bigger

I would say yes actually. In terms of skill, 100%. They both have elite hands and wrestling.

However I do prefer watching different styles faceoff. Wrestler-Boxer vs Wrestler-Boxer is too common.

Khabib vs Tony is what I'm truly excited about.

Since when was Conor vs Alvarez a super fight?
<{vega}>

BJ is not the LW GOAT. You can argue that he could've been if his career went a different path, but unlike the other divisional GOATS he doesn't have the title defenses or the long dominant run.

Yes, both have huge legacies they’re putting on the line.

Yes, of course. P4P speaking, if we had decent rankings, it would be #2 vs. #3 and LHW vs. HW, great fight and yeah the best super fight ever.
Alvarez barely was a top 10 P4P after beating RDA, Conor never defended a belt in his entire career.

this is big. way bigger than Conor/Eddie.

probably not BJ/GSP though

Edward vs. Conor was the biggest.

205 and HW have been the shittest divisions (after 125 pound) for over 5 years now. Literally zero competition. DC and Jones then maybe rumble and gus. Stipe has verdum and Cain is injured. Weak.

At the time of their second fight both BJ and GSP had a single title defense to their name.

Absolutely false

Goodness, the Conor sherdog hate is getting ridiculous

Conor won the FW belt by beating a 10 year undefeated Aldo

Who did DC beat to win the LHW belt again?

Conor was/is actually the legit #1 lineal real champ of both divisions he won belts in

DC never beat Jones

Get real

GTFO lol

And "bu but title defenses" doesn't change anything

LHW and HW are the 2 weakest, most shallow divisions in MMA...

Its easy to rack up "title defenses" in those weak shallow divisions. It's a meaningless stat.

Meanwhile FW and LW are the best divisions in MMA history

Quality>>quantity

How can not more people see this?

Or is the hate for Conor on sherdog this bad now and has gotten completely out of control now? To the point where some people are allowing their delusional haterd of Conor to blind them to all reality?

Accomplishments at FW and LW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>"accomplishments" at LHW and HW.

This is why Randy's and DC's 2 belt accomplishments will never mean much or matter much

This is why Conor's 2 belt accomplishment is the most historic, relevant, and significant one in history

Conor did it in the 2 greatest divisions in MMA history

And furthermore, again as noted previously

Conor ended 10 year undefeated Aldo to win his FW belt

DC beat WW reject Rumble Johnson to win a vacant LHW title lmao

And for all those going but "Stipe>>>Alvarez"

Stipe is 17-2

Alvarez was 28-4 when Conor beat him

And that's Alvarez record while competing in a much much more stacked division

Alvarez would've easily defended 3 times in a shallow division like HW

Conor's win over Alvarez gets downplayed so much it's insanity. Conor's win over top 5 all time great LW Alvarez in his prime to capture the belt above him IS one of the GOAT wins in MMA

Under no cicrumstance would DC's 2 belt paper accomplishment, even come close to comparing to Conor's 2 belt accomplishment in the 2 most stacked divisions in MMA taking out a prime Aldo and prime Alvarez

DC beat low IQ face first brawler Rumble fucking Johnson to win a VACANT title

DC never beat Jones

And both LHW and HW are insanely weak

Both were unproven as champs, this fight was a PR stunt gone right for Conor’s marketability if anything, but definitely not a superfight
Yeah in my first post in this thread I said I didn't even consider it a superfight.

BJ vs GSP 2 is STILL the biggest superfight ever. BJ is the only fighter in MMA history to be the consensus number 1 in two different weight classes simultaneously and GSP is GSP.
