Knowing Cormier and Jones can't fight each other until the first of the year,(assuming Jones gets by Gus). Why not have Cormier vs Rashad on the Labor day card? They were going to fight already. I would want to stay sharp for the LHW matchup, another pay day wouldn't hurt. All this predicated on Rashad's time frame for his return.

mainly because cormier wants to wait. plus not to many fans are excited for shad vs jones II. maybe if gus beats jones then it would make sense

If that happens, Cormier should get the title shot.

I want to see that fight even though it is a high risk fight for DC who is on tap for the next title shot.

He could take on a Baskin Robbins employee in the interim.

Really? The same Rashad who fought Hendo and Little Nog? Cormier takes it with relative ease. He's better in pretty much every area. .

I want to see this fight too, but I don't think the timing would work.

If there are no injuries, I think the timeline for the 205 strap could go like this:

    AJ beats Lil Nog (july)
    Jones beats Gus (august)
Cormier beats Jones (december new years card)
AJ beats Shad (december, same card)
AJ vs Cormier (memorial day weekend 2015)

I would lol to see Cormier ragdoll Rashad, but no. Cormier has earned his shot.

Cormier is already way too good for Shad. Get him against the trinity at LHW already.

Why would it be the same Rashad?

What makes you think that Jones would be willing to fight in December after fighting in August. More likely, we're looking at February at the earliest for a Jones/DC fight.

Either do DC/Rashad in December and then have the winner go against Jones in April or give DC a different fight that he is almost certain to win (Rua?) in October or November and then do the Jones/DC fight in February.

If you with the former, you can even have DC or Rashad coach a season of TUF against Jones leading up to the fight.

I'm a guy who believes Rashad is truly one of the best 205lbers of all time, probably 3rd right now IMO, and looked AMAZING against Chael.

With that said, I think DC would make him look bad just about everywhere.

Cormier would spank Rashad really hard

I may be interested to see this if Cormier is the title holder or if he loses the Championship match but right now it makes no sense..

By the way I would be much more interested by DC vs Rumble at this point

DC should be avoiding Rumble and/or Glover at all costs until he gets his title shot. There is no upside for him in either of those fights.

Chael didn't even try, his fight against Lil-Nog was more indicative of where Rashad is currently at as a fighter.

As for where he stands all time... 3rd is ridiculous. Even Tito deserves to be ranked hire than Rashad (don't forget he beat rashad in their first fight, if not for that unheard of point deduction).
