Dominated....
OK, so the first fight was a surprise on a few levels. People expected Jones to stay on the outside and keep Cormier at range, and not too many predicted Jones to be so willing to clinch. But clinch he did, working the body and (critically) leaning over Cormier, forcing DC to carry the extra weight and tiring him out.
It was a great strategy. In spite of Cormier landing some good clinch uppercuts and looking strong in round two he was almost spent by the halfway point of the fight.
Will that happen again? Doubtful. DC would recognise the danger of staying in Jones' clinch for too long and also realise that the wrestling advantage he believed he had before their first encounter doesn't exist. The question therefore for DC is "what now?"
DC's avenues for victory aren't as varied as Jones. He cannot stay on the outside, and he should know now to be wary of long periods of clinching. That gives him a pretty small window of striking range where he is close enough to Jones to hit him but not so close as to be grabbed and held.
I think DC will try to KO Jones this time, because he doesn't have many other options. His go-to, wrestling, was trumped by Bones the first time they fought. I think if DC can't stop Jones he will lose, and because he will try to stop Jones he may make mistakes and tire faster, leading to DC himself being stopped.
So my prediction is either DC by TKO in the first two or Jones by stoppage late. A wide Jones UD is possible too if DC is too tentative and stays at range.
