He's still carrying a lot of fat so he can easily make 205 without cutting much water, it seems like he's going for it, he's always weighed-in at ~240 in the past. I hope he makes his UFC debut at LHW in a #1 contender bout.
I also believe he's heading to LHW sooner rather than later. Especially with Cain the current HW champ. I've heard they won't fight each other, but then again you never know once the title is on the line and the fight is actually offered.
everyone knows he's going to LHW i'm interested in seeing if this mir fight even happens.Stylistically he'll murder mir so he can be light for it and continue his path.
Wrong. Cormier said he WANTS Mir. You will not find a credible source that says the fight is officially on.
DC is playing the game. He knows Mir is made for him, he only wants that pointless fight so he can have a high-profile UFC coming-out party by thrashing a well-known heavyweight. I'd much rather he went down to lhw right away since he is chasing Jones' title rather than Cain's title. And that's not just so the title shot is more legit when it comes, it's to see how Cormier's body holds up in a fight at a lower weight and to allow his body some time to acclimatize to the new weight class. But a lhw fight most likely wouldn't gain him the same attention and hype as a hw beatdown. But if I could choose his opponent, I'd pick Rashad Evans or Alexander Gustafsson. Either one would be a perfect fight for him. Both guys present different challenges for him, and make for interesting fights.
I think he's going to do it the right way and learning from past mistakes. You'll probably see another gradual decrease of about 5-8 pounds for the next fight also at heavyweight in the UFC before a full blown attempt at 205
Like this guy needs a dietitian to lose weight. He's probably forcing food down his throat just to stay at 205+.
He wouldn't need to cut any more than 5 pounds to make LHW if he was in good shape. Thats like skipping dinner the night before weighing in. Won't be an issue.
