Cormier looked pretty chubby even for LHW ... would it be possible he could make middleweight if he did lose the fat and trained more for fitness? the guy looks like he doesn't even train to go for 5 rounds ( course he does am sure ) however with Jones being on top of the LHW mountain i don't think Cormier could beat him , and he also looked to lose some weight.

    It's his body type.

An endomorph will never look like an ectomorph with all of the dieting in the world. He just carries more weight.

He almost died cutting weight wrestling. LHW is already risky as it is for him. Not a chance he makes it to Middleweight.

Maybe it was the way he cut it , the guy just seemed so out of shape in his fight against Jones , then again it could be the fact he taken some nasty leg shots to the body , that will zap your energy in no hurry.

Yeah, he can win at HW or MW.

    Just not LHW.

I think he's OK at LHW with a reasonable diet and if he does his cut properly, but yea, with his issues in the Olympics with weight cutting, I'd be shocked if he even attempted a cut to 185 outside of competition to see if it was possible.

He beat Henderon and Cummins .... admit Henderson is a small LHW .. not LHW none the less.

Somatotypes are bullshit. Frame and genetics (to an extent) is one thing, but the whole idea of human beings being split into three distinct groups of body type is nonsense.

Cormier at MW... Is it possible? Yeah, after enough time. Is it even worth it? Probably not. We have no idea what his performance would look like with that extra strain. I doubt Cormier has been anything below 200 for over a decade. He's not exactly a young man, and I don't really see why he would want to cut down either. He lost to the greatest LHW the world has ever seen. Not something to be ashamed of. He's still a force of nature at LHW.

Seems like Cormier is between a rock and a hard place , he's great at HW but his beat mate Cain is the champ , and he's too big for MW , and the guy who's champ at LHW made him look like a little brother ... maybe that's why this lost hit Cormier so hard ...

True , how would his body react ... also as you said he isn't a young man anymore .... the sands of time is running against him.

I think he could make 185 given the right diet and enough time. He'd had to give up some of that Lat muscle but it's possible. I know from personal experience that you can drop down lower than you think possible if you take the time to do it right.

I thought 205 was going to be as low as I could go and I had a lot of people agreeing with me at the time. So I stayed there for a few years and then made the push to 170. Not that I'm as WIDE as Cormier, but I was able to change "body types". I'm still about 170 so I've kept it here for a few years now.

True ... but the thing is would the cut effect his health in a negative way , he had kidney problems cutting weight in his wrestling days , also being an older man it'll be harder for him losing weight , your metabolism slows down as you get older.
