It's a pretty old thread; I wonder if the forum had to do some processing once I decided to open it because of the switch-over a few years ago. I know the admins have said that there can be wonkiness with older threads.

Quite possibly yes. I'm sure there's a lot more going on than I know about.

It does sound like an IT department's equivalent of switch it off and on again.
