To surprise of absolutely nobody, Francis Ford Coppola's new film, "Megalopolis" is mired in production difficulties and reportedly well behind schedule and over-budget.

The movie, currently halfway through shooting in Atlanta, has in the last week lost key creative talent including its production designer and supervising art director. That’s on top of losing the entire visual effects team in the first part of December.

The film itself has a reported $120m production budget and is largely self-financed by Coppola himself

In March 2022, Coppola told The Hollywood Reporter he was putting his own money into the film, which has no distributor, in order to make it his way.

Coppola is well known for overseeing extremely messy productions. Apocalypse Now is probably my favourite movie of all time. The Godfather 1 & 2 and The Conversation are all time great films. I have always loved Dracula as well.

I hope that he pulls off one last masterpiece. I also hope that there is a crew doing a "making of" documentary because that could be pretty entertaining.

He should make movies the way he makes wine: moderately priced, decent quality and widely available

Sometimes passion projects work, sometimes they do not. I think he has been trying to do this since the early 80s. The concept sounds ok, but not for a 120m type movie. Sounds more like an indie type, so he may take in the keister on this one. Not to mention he has Shia LeDouche as his lead? WTF?

I think adam driver now

The movie has the following stars in it

Audrey Plaza
Adam Driver
Shia Labeouf
Gus from Breaking bad
Hot black chick from GoT
Talia Shire
Jon Voight
Laurence Fishbourne
Dustin Hoffman
Forest Whittaker

Sounds pretty boring

He hasn't made a good film since the 90s if you consider GF3, Dracula, Jack or Rainmaker, to be good movies.

I don't think this will be good but who knows. If it's not outrageously long I might check it out.

I like rainmaker too

Anyway, I had to go back and click the link and actually read it, but I had a good 30 secs of intrigue because TS called the movie "MAGAlopolis" which might be a different film
