Since i got such awesome help from my last question, How to avoid people standing up in my guard?

I thought i would throw this one out there ?

Since the majority of my JJ learning goes on in forums and on websites (i attend a JJ class once a month due to my work schedule)

i was wondering what are the go to Sweeps, the ones you find yourself in position to throw the most from a standard closed or open guard.

My guard has gotten substantially better with the info from the last post, as im now controlling an arm via underhook or overhook with one hand, while im pushing and pulling on the head with the other .

This is No gi JJ training just for typical self defense, and i never get 1 on 1 training with the isnstructor as i only go once a month and im not one of the prize pupils..

Thanks again guys, Cheers

for me its hip heist/kimura from closed/open and elevator from bfly

For sure, hip heist works so well because alot of people over posture & it's relatively safe I you can regain guard quite easily IF the sweep fails.

My bad for not knowing the name but the sweep where you slip one arm under their leg & you kick over from an armbar position.

In open guard I find I'm easily passed so I just go for a kimura grip, allow them to go around me & I go with the momentum to sweep them over.

pretty sure you are talking about a flower sweep

anyone got a picture of this flower sweep, i cant imagine howd you hook a leg while kicking out from an armbar position? im guessing the bottom arm, but how exactly evades me ?

Yep, those tend to be my favorites. Hip bump when they are postured up, flower if they are leaning forward.

I love the flower/pendulum sweep. I want to have the flower sweep's babies.

wow that is the first time ive ever seen that, thats pretty gnarly , will give me something to practice .. thanks for that hookup J... i appreciate it

Hook sweep/sickle sweep combination is good for standing open guard....

Scissors sweep/elevator sweep are good basic sweeps also....

gonna sound newb again, but oh well ...
i know of the hip bump when mounted,
but how exactly do you hip bump with your legs around them ?
im guessing its like bumping your own hips causing them to come over you ?

you open your legs when executing the hip bump.

get wrist control and reach over like a kimura, grip side leg drops to ground close to oppnets thigh, far side foot plants on ground, bump to grip side

thx for the vis frodo those are some fancy sweeps taht i will have to try
