Distance matters. Let me repeat. Distance matters. What I mean by this, is that how close or how far you are away from your opponent makes a bigger difference then a lot of people realize. If you are close then it can present different opportunities or obstacles. If you are further away then it can also present it's own opportunities or obstacles.
In this video I share with you the fundamental concept of "Distance Control and Gauging the Distance". This concept is extremely important and it's something that many grappler don't tend to think about. That is why this is another concept that I consider to be "advanced basics".
Advanced basics are many things that may seem to be "common sense" but don't really stick out to most people unless another person tells them about it. It's little things, concepts, or approaches that can help refine and improve your current fundamental game and make it work at a higher level.
