Yup. Cash is king. Some people would watch the world burn in order to make a profit.

Deliberate destruction in order to justify a lucrative contract? How devious.

So the EPA is going to make things worse so they can get funding? It seems like there'd be plenty to keep them busy that didn't need to be instigated/fabricated on their part.

The EPA has a full plate already. Why would one more spill result in any more funding for them. Hell, half the Republicans in congress would probably be fine with getting rid of them altogether. It doesn't make sense.

On a side note I hate seeing these pictures of the Animas. It's an absolutely amazing river to fish/float/hang out on.

They want 50 billion dollars to clean up the United states mines. What better way than to get a great photo opp that can be plastered all over the Internet saying how awful the situation is and how much money they are going to need to fix it.

    It makes alot of sense.

Whether or not this specific case is an actually conspiracy or not, whenever the motive to fix problems is profit based, the kind of corruption being pondered about here is inevitable.

So these guys go fucking with this shit cause a spill, and now it looks like their plan is to simply sit there with the dicks in the hands until it all runs out, and then demand a bigger chunk of dough to put up, "RIVER CONDEMED" Signs!

    The organization doesn't.

But the people who run it, and the private companies they contract (most of which are probably owned by EPA admins, or their cousins, or the admins have something invested in them) do.

That's a pretty common form of corruption really. Plenty of reports coming out that Russian Olympic contracts went to cronies, and there were some scandals exposed in Montreal with construction contracts going to organized crime.

    It's certainly not unprecedented.

Organized crime is a lot bigger than most people think.

Also the organization's leaders benefit from proving their bureaucracy's necessity and the need for greater budgets and projects to earn themselves bonuses for, etc

Seems very similar to police departments in my area not dealing with the growing gang/drug cartel problem so they can get increased funding year after year
