People forget history.

Conor vs Aldo hype started last year.....Remember the world tour and all that bullshit? Well they were suppose to fight in july but Aldo got injured.

It was seriously one of the most hyped fights of all time..I mean the money the UFC spend to advertise, was unbelievable....GSP/Brock/Anderson didn't get that much advertisement IMO.

When Aldo got injured....Guess what, the fight was already hyped so much that UFC 189 couldn't fail.

Not to mention UFC 189 was Co-Headlined by a Title Fight between Rory/Lawler aka Fight of the year.

Now @ UFC 194......After literally almost a year a hype, finally Aldo vs McGregor happens....again featuring a title fight between Rockhold/Weidman.

Again there was no way that card could fail...Never before had a fight been hyped for so long, I mean almost a damn year...and it was a good card below the Main-Event, of course it will sell well.

Finally UFC 196.

Sorry but RDA wasn't selling PPVs.....There was very little hype behind it from the media, hell even the UFC wasn't hyping it that much tbh...RDA just didn't sell.

Then Nate Diaz came in.....had hilarious interviews/press conferences where he verbally destroyed Conor.....All of a sudden everybody wanted to watch UFC 196.

Sorry but regardless of what people say...Nate Diaz is the reason why it sold 1.5 million....Sure RDA/Conor/Tate/Holm(extremely popular coming off her KO of Ronda) card would've sold around a million...but not 1.5 million.

Nate Diaz brought entertainment + his fighting style of not backing down was the reason UFC 196 sold so well.

Whats the point of this thread? GSP/Brock/Anderson Silva...never ever got Co-Main Title fights when they were headlining each time they fought (only brock @ UFC 100 and GSP @ UFC 129 and AS @ UFC 168).

If GSP/Brock/AS were getting that much advertisement + Co-Main Title fights each time they fought...guess what...they would be way bigger than they were.

So Conor is purely product of the UFC and lucky circumstances where he gets the Aldo fight for a whole year.....then gets the gift of Nate Diaz making UFC 196 interesting unlike boring RDA personality.

Just Stating Facts.

I have been stating this for a while and was called a 'hater'. I was even told that my posts will be bumped when hes a 2 div champ and breaks Silva's record. Lol.

Its impossible to have rational discussion on Sherdog. I've been labeled a fanboy after typing two sentences that weren't bashing Conor, despite making numerous posts about him that were critical.

That's why I stopped taking Sherdog even remotely seriously. Its just people filled with anger waiting to burst at the seams the first chance they see an opening.

Whats the point of this thread?

Remind me again?

"Co-main title fights" are not why people like you are still making 1,000 threads a day about Conor.

Conor is an exciting fighter with charisma for days.

No, Nate Diaz is the reason.

Nate Diaz destroying him actually encouraged people to dis him on sherdog.

You honestly think the millions of people interested in the fight because the most popular fighter in mma was fighting were only tuning in because of a press conference nobody outside of hardcore mma fans gave a fuck about?

Yeah, k. You need to go outside more.

Wtf are you talking about?
Brock headlined UFC 100 and GSP fought as the Co-main that night first of all.
Secondly Nate Diaz will NEVER do 1.5 million, are you kidding me? That card sold bc of the buildup between the two and that's being nice, considering we both know Conor sold it.
You also have to remember that a lot of the guys maybe besides Brock aren't very marketable either.
Point is Conor brings in most of the buys so relax you're not you when your hungry.

Nate Diaz is not the reason.

But Nate BEATING him is the reason people have been dissing him on Sherdog because people love kicking people when they're down.

Except for that Slap, choke, tap situation..

He's now an interesting fighter...

Who is one Nate Diaz fight away from being just another fighter...

According to Conor nuthuggers, the reason he is popular is because his press confrences are entertaining.

Nate Diaz had some extremely funny sound bites that im sure were spread around social media/sports media.

So yes I think Nate Diaz did his part.

Conor is popular because Conor is popular. He brought a lot of attention to himself. That attention didn't disappear just for Diaz, who wasn't ever a draw, to come along and pick up the slack.

Seriously, you are too insulated with Conor haters on Sherdog. Turn your computer off and talk to someone outside.

No shit....I stated it in my post that only once has Brock as the headline gotten a title fight as co-mainevent which was GSP......I clearly stated in the OP.

Neither GSP/Brock/or Anderson Silva get 3 co-main title fights in a row when they were headlining.......never before has that happened.

Conor vs RDA wasn't selling shit...nobody gave a shit about that fight even tho it was a title fight...then Nate Diaz shows up, does entertaining interviews/press conferences.....sorry but nate diaz is the reason why UFC 196 sold so well....no way in hell it would sell 1.5m with RDA.

You're forgetting the fact that Conor's popularity skyrocketed after beating Aldo...He more than doubled his social media followers 1.4 mil to over 3 mil. on FB. He was now legit, bonafide star...That was the biggest reason for the spike in sales. Having the American Ninja Nate helped those numbers too but I doubt it was all that much.

You are delusional if you think RDA vs Conor would've sold 1.5million like Nate vs Conor.

I like how you take a series of events, and then distort them in order to fit a narrative based on your personal prejudices.

it's an underrated posting style.

Who would argue that? However, it is beside the point.
The point is that Nate Diaz would've sold more than RDA.

No way in hell does RDA vs Conor get 1.5million...nobody cared about that fight, but they cared about the Diaz fight.

It more than likely wouldnt have turned out the same way with anyone else though.

I disagree that nobody gave a shit about the RDA fight..just not true, word seemed to be good. Though RDA probably wouldn't have done as many PPV sales because people in Brasil don't have to pay to view, they get the fights through cable subscriptions. It was mostly Conor and his new fame but Nate being a badass American helped put that one over the top.
