People are just out to get Conor because he is getting paid and has a lot to say and is getting TONs of attention.
GSP lost 2 of his first 3 title fights.
BJ fell short in his first two attempts at becoming a champ.
Anderson had 3 losses, 2 by way of submission before coming to the UFC. He had contemplated quitting but the Nogueira brothers talked him out of it. (maybe it was Big Nog, I forget exactly)
Wandy went 1-2 in the UFC before going unbeaten in 17 straight fights over 4 years in Pride.
(this list could go on forever, the point is....)
...LOTS of great fighters had some setbacks. Some of them had several setbacks. MMA fighters lose fights, it happens, especially to fighters who take on tough challenges, but with great risk comes great reward and Conor is willing to take the big risks for the big payday, big fame and big glory.
What happened in the Nate fight is highly unlikely to happen to Conor at 145, he can also have success at 155 if he makes some adjustments (doesn't blow his wad going for early finish, improves cardio, plays it a little safer as far as defense and shot selection)
Generally when fighters lose some sort of deficiency gets "exposed" .... there is a reason they lost after all... in this case the things that lead to Conor's loss are things he can improve.
- what weight he fights at
- what fights he takes
- his choice to take the fight to the ground
- his over commitment to the early finish
- BJJ sub defense and positioning. He could have held nate off long enough to survive, maybe get half guard, slowed him down long enough to recover. These are things that can be learned IF he is serious about putting in the time.
- check the EGO a bit
- etc...
