The takedown threat is REAL. Khabib makes every good striker seem average, even though hes not a great striker himself. Barboza is arguably just as good as Conor on the feet, and Khabib pieced him up when they were on the feet and outstruck him handily.

Conor is going to look like a completely different fighter on the feet. He will not be able to use his kicks because that will get him taken down. He will have to solely rely on his hands and the takedown threat will throw him off as it does everyone else Khabib fights.

Conor has never looked like an average striker against anyone.

Conor is comfortable with just his hands.

And it would be enough. The TD threat can only get you so far. Khabib might be able to land on Conor but he would not be able to do real damage. And every second on the feet gives Conor a chance to counter.

So, TDs, clinch, scrambles. Over and over again. Get it to the mat and keep it there.

The TD threat is only a thing if he can actually get Conor down. And if he can get him down that's exactly what he should do. Why play with fire if you can suffocate the flame?

Well being mounted by Khabib and getting grappled for 25 minutes is not looking like an average striker, and the only way he wins is by avoiding the feet completely

A huge difference between Conor and Barboza is, Barboza shut down when someone pushes forward and wilts under pressure. He also isn't as accurate, slick or anywhere near the counter striker that McGregor is and their fight IQ is world's apart. Barboza has amazing striking technically along with speed, power, size and athleticism but he's not comparable to McGregor where it counts.

Regardless, Conor's cardio is bad and I've seen the man give up in fights before mentally. I've seen him make excuses to convince himself psychologically. I'm interested to see what happens if Conor spends one round on his back getting pounded out like an old rug... he'll be gassed after that, beaten and bloody...he won't be able to walk away every two punches with his hands on his hips to take a breather like vs Nate.

I think it's worth noting that Barboza is mostly known for his kicks and it's hard to establish a kicking game with constant threat from takedowns. McGregor is mostly known for his hands, so the match up is different.

Could happen.

Gsp made prime thiago alves look bad

Conor is obviously a very talented fighter. What if he's actually able to a) not getting taken down easily b) getting up when taken down.

What's Khabib gonna do then? Obviously continue on with his relentless pressure - but what if he gets knocked down? Not necessarily finished, but what is it gonna do to his mind? Is he gonna be less relentless in going for takedowns?

And no, Barboza isn't on Conor's level. Far from it.

So he makes aldo, one of the best strikers In the history of the UFC look terrible, and khabib will make him look bad on the feet.

Bro come on this isn't an anime hahaha

Threat of td will stop conors kicks or limit them taking away a huge part of his striking - unless he wants to lose

Rewatch the mendes fight - conor throws 2 spinkicks and gets taken down in seconds

His next few kicks are allowed and then used as a setup for a take down where he spends the rest of the round on his back

The threat of takedown will be huge and playing on his mind the entire fight - if mendes can do it - khabib can too .

Conor will look like a powerful and precise striker who can’t stop the takedown vs. Khabib.

LOL post the next 10 seconds where his next kick ends him on his back for 3 minutes
Still landed 15 of them and they did their damage on Chad. For all the work Mendes did on the ground he only landed 9 more strikes on Conor and it was Conor's grab work that made chad go for the sub. Mendes complained to dean about Conor's elbows, next he's lunging for a guillotine, next he's turtled up wondering where he is.

Conor sure looked like a great striker when he knocked out Chad Mendes in under 2 rounds.
