This guy, who was more than happy to drag Aldo around the planet to pile dogshit on him, who asked for a novelty fight instead of defending his title on the basis that it would sell to the morons who want 'antics'.

…. now suddenly wants to be focused and get back in the gym now that he has everything his way?

I'm glad the UFC is telling him to go fuck himself. If he wanted to get back in the gym he should have agreed to fight the next deserving guy for the title he holds.

edit: to the people saying that Conor pulled out of media appearances, and not the fight itself: Conor was explicitly told that the fight will be cancelled if he refused to do the media appearances. Even while knowing that, Conor refused anyway. If that's not pulling out of the fight, I dunno what is.

Its as if everything is blowing up in McGregor's face. Entertaining for sure.

This CM saga is like the ultimate Greek tragedy.

The guy doesn't keep track of what he says, he's only being as outlandish as he can be to drum up interest and bring in more capital. He's pretty fucking smart honestly. Look around, what percentage of threads in the heavies are about him? Nuff said..

Good catch TS

also top fucking kek at "Dos Anjos you are a pussy."

RDA would've embedded your head into the canvas

None of this is that crazy. He promoted the hell out of himself to become more popular, and make a bunch of money. It worked very well. Then he lost. His promotion of himself added tons of extra attention and opportunity, but it is all for nothing if he isn't winning. He's not dumb, he realizes all of this, and now he knows that the best possible thing he can do for himself is win. He now wants to train and not promote, because winning his next fight is crucial. His thinking is sound, it's just that all the publicity and money that he got from his self promotion makes it almost impossible to go back to being "just a fighter." He's gotta learn to take the good with the bad. His next fight is gona make him a shitload of money, but it's going to be a fight that he has to promote the hell out of. He carved out his own path, and now he's just gotta suck it up and live with it. He's still the richest active MMA fighter out there, so he really can't complain.

You guys know a bunch of other fighters just had a press conference, right?

I thought you wanted less Conor and for others to be promoted more...

In all fairness, I don't think any of them will go into any history book. Maybe sports history? Delusional...

Deluded if you think Conor will be forgotten

Conor is not even known by people who don't give a damn about the sport. Sports are not important, they are hobbies that some people choose to follow. What the athletes say or do have no importance in society. There are few exceptions, and the only true exception to the rule was Ali, and he stood for something completely outside the sport to put "his name in history".

These MMA fighters? For the "point of view of history" they are irrelevant and so is the sport. We care about it because we enjoy the sport.

The true shame is: he gets to do this nonsense because the biggest money made by the UFC comes from lousy detached fans, not people truly interested and practitioners of martial arts.
