Thank you to @ortizgnp for inspiring this thread with a comment he made on another post.
It got me thinking about something that literally nobody asks. What is Conor's chin actually made of?
If we look back through majority of his pre-UFC fights, his opponents don't even try to fight. They look like rabbits in headlights just waiting to be knocked out, not sure why but they genuinely look like this. Even Joe Duffy was diving for legs after like 10 seconds of action.
If we then look at majority of his UFC fights, he hasn't really been hit for us to know if he has a chin. I cannot once remember him taking a decent shot from Brimage, Brandao, Poirier, Aldo or Holloway. The only fights where he ate some shots have been Diaz I and II, Mendes and Siver.
Conor took Siver's shots well, granted, but there is this misconception that he completely out-struck Mendes on the feet. Chad knocked Conor's head back and had him with his eyes closed many times off of that right hand, unfortunately it doesn't fit the narrative, so let's just talk about crappy body kicks that did very little.
When Conor has been hit clean by Nate (in both fights) he looks in trouble. We can say that it's because he is tired, but in all fairness it could just be because these guys hit harder than he's used to.
If Nate Diaz can make you do multiple chicken-dances, Eddie Alvarez can probably put you to sleep.
Greatest examples I hear from people claiming he has a chin - is the elbows he took from Chad. Yet nobody ever mentions him being ripped to the body and clocked up top by Nate - or of course when Nate hit him with the slickest 1-2 in MMA history
So what's the verdict, does he have a chin or not?
