If this fight were to happen, it would be pretty damning for Conor (in the eyes of real mma fans). He chose to fight Cowboy despite the fact that Cowboy had lost 2 straight and the guy who just destroyed Cowboy (Gaethje) was calling Conor out. You could justify it on some level because Conor was also coming off a loss and needed a tune-up. But it would be difficult to justify fighting Nate when the person who just outclassed Nate (Masvidal) has been calling Conor out.

Nate definitely lost the rematch, Conor pieced him up badly with the exception of the 3rd and the 5th was very close...clear 4-1 or at worst 3-2 Conor.

According to who? not one mma website had nate winning....how do you win getting put on your ass 3x, getting your face torn apart? that fight wasn't close. nate only had his moments in spurts...conor dominated the majority of every single round...

It would make more sense to have conor fight masvidal. If he wins, they could use it to justify a title shot at welterweight--> $$$. If he loses, a nate fight would still make sense since he just lost to masvidal too --> $$$. Then if nate wins that, it would set up the masvidal rematch on some "we didn't finish last time" shit --> and still $$ (could do the same for conor depending on how the aforementioned masvidal fight with him went).

Whereas if he just fought nate and lost, there wouldn't really be any big money fights to make at 170 (relative to how big money any conor fight would be).
