Conor McGregor is waiting until a beatable Lighweight champion comes along

Some of you think like children, maybe you are children to be fair.

Conor's a businessman 1st and a fighter 2nd at this point, it's a business decision regarding his ownership stake, it's nothing to do with the competition, MMA is evolving, the competition will only get stronger all the while Conor will get older.

Any comeback fight will be huge. If he gets called out in a few years it'll bring the hype back.

The current MMA landscape is nightmarish for McGregor.

He lost to Khabib and has absolutely nothing for him in case of a rematch. Losing to Khabib one more time will be very damaging to his career.

Tried to angle for a Cowboy fight, but Cowboy's "happy to be in Conor's world" attitude + the fans not taking the matchup seriously despite some enthusiasm from hardcore fans scrapped the idea of that fight.

Tried to hype a fight with Diaz, but apparently Diaz doesn't want to fight him.

Basically, the man is currently stuck between w rock and a hard place in a division of killers.

Seems like McGregor wants to take a couple of years off, hone his skills and get semi-decent at grappling, and wait for an opportunity at LW when there's a beatable champion to announce his comeback to the sport.
You know what his biggest problem is now? Inactivity.

If this dude thinks he can take another 2 years off without a fight, come back, and be good? He will get KO'd, book it.

That, or he'll be in fucking prison.

Ownership stake? You guys still running with this?

The great lengths that haters go through just to promote their agenda is incredible.

WME would be insane to give Conor a stake. There's nothing in that for him. If he fight for the UFC they make some dough. But if he doesn't they still make dough. They have no motive whatsoever to offer him an ownership stake.

You realise a McGregor event like the last one is the equivalent of 8-10 PPV's, if you don't think that's a motive for a business you should avoid going into business...

He's also the crossover star that keeps the sport in the mainstream...

But to be honest I'm sure Conor's position is that he is the main reason the UFC sold for so much money, he's the main reason the TV deals are now so lucrative, he feels he's earned it.

But it's up to the UFC to decide if he's worth opening that can of worms, coz once it's done once it wont be the last time someone makes that demand, Conor no longer needs to fight, he's looking for some incentive and likely testing UFC's resolve....

It's the GSP strategy. Retire then come back for a winnable fight.

If I was Mcgregor I'd "get injured" and let Ferguson and Holloway put some miles on that bear wrestling madman.

Diaz wants Khabib.
Ha ha ha, yeah right. No, he just wants to talk about it. That's it. What fighter in the world will not take a chance at the title? He got the offer to fight for the title with Woodley and refused. I have no respect for that guy. Just talking shit about everybody that nobody understand, but when get any offer to fight, he refuse..

I can only laugh at him as a fighter, but respect his business decision. He is smarter than he looks and this decision proves he knows he is in a dead spot due his weak set of skills X top competition. Midgets are over buddy
