Talks the talk and walks the walk.

    Fair comparison.

I think he's serious too. He's a good fighter, his personality is pretty cringe-worthy though.

Never heard of Ali, so I can't comment on how accurate the comparison is.

He's a good looking Irish dude, who talks a lot of trash...apparently he predicted two fights of his by KO's and in the same round. All of this equals = Bigger than Brock Lesnar. (yes, someone in the UFC Brass did say that)

    I really don't get it...

Chad Mendes or Jose Aldo would kill this guy.

UFC is getting desperate in marketing the next "Superstar."

the fact that he leap frogs Edgar for the title is a joke.

Edgar is ranked 2 and tapped out 3 in Cub.

Conor at 5 if he beats Silver who is 10 is better than Frankie?

Might as well dump all the "official" UFC rankings in the trash then.

If you saw his reaction he admits he shouldn't be talked about with Ali.

    He is the future

Perhaps there is something to the comparison. I'm not entirely sold. (also, it's pretty clear the UFC brass are nuthugging McGregor pretty hard)

Nevertheless, I keep seeing the UFC try to make connections to boxing's historical figures to try and elevate itself by association. But then at the same time they are the first to slam boxing for being incomplete and MMA is better than every TMA ever. The JDS vs Cain trilogy was compared to Ali vs Frazier. A fighter or two (Hector Lombard?) being compared to Mike Tyson. That's not all, but it is all that comes to mind right now.

I dunno, is this just the UFC's way to elevate its image through the nostalgia of another sport that is more storied than its own?

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it... (that's probably the case)

Then he is not like Ali. Ali was calling himself better than Louis and Dempsey already in his mother's womb.

And I believe Siver was only placed in the top 10 after they matched him up with Connor. I understand why they would let him jump Frankie (Frankie already lost to Aldo and McGregor is fresh) but he's going to be put in a title fight when for all we know Ricardo Lamas would make him his wife (ok, maybe not) but he'll be relatively untested for featherweight contender. Connor is talented and he has a good skill set, he'll be a top fighter. Champion? Not sure
