Since Conor is the interim champion all of his fights will be five rounds I really think this benefits him the most because it gives him so much time to finish the fight particularly with his striking.
I only way I see Conor losing is by via decision in a three round fight, Frankie Edgar might be able to defeat him in a three round fight.
Since his fights are five rounds now I don't see him losing for a very long time.

While Conor has improved, this is a dopey fucking theory considering both of his losses were submissions.

    Makes zero sense.

Yeah I love Conor but I don't see where TS is coming from. Conor is a killer and goes for the kill when he sees blood and has the power to put anyone away. If he can't get it done in 3, it's probably because he's tired or hurt (Holloway injury for instance)

I want to see how good conors cardio truly is. I want to see how he fights in the 5th round in a tiring contest.

he looked good at the end of the second round in a grueling contest with chad. didnt look tired at all.

I agree with TS in a way. if conors cardio is better then most of his competitors, I think it definitely benefits for obvious reasons. and even for guys like frankie who have endless cardio, I think TS' theory holds true, as conor will have a lot more time to KO frankie. frankie aint finishing conor.

Well, I guess it can both help and hurt him. BUT, I have seen strikers lose decisions in a lot of 3 round fights because they couldn't avoid being taken down for the first 2 rounds.

So in a situation like that then, yeah, I guess you're right.

How do you know that Conor's cardio lasts for 5 rounds? With as aggressively as he fights he may be on dead legs going in to the fifth round. I would also think that a 5 round fight against Edgar would work in Frankie's favor. We know that dude isn't going to get tired and gets stronger as the fight goes on. I hear Rousey's cardio is really good too, it probably helps that she's in all those 5 rounders too.

I'm surprised so many people seem dumbfounded by this.

Conor is a deadly striker who at this point in his career seems to be difficult to finish and has good cardio. Every round starts standing so more rounds equals more chances to knock someone out and more likelihood that his opponent will tire out and leave him openings.

This is actually pretty obvious, but I'd never put it past Sherdog to derp hard on something this simple.

When you feel the urge to make a conor thread, do yourself a favor and resist that urge.

I don't know, but he fights at a fast pace and hasn't gassed out yet from what I've seen.

Everything else about his style makes him more dangerous over the course of 5 rounds, though.

Why are so many people in is thread acting like they've never seen fighting before?

It's hard, not impossible, but harder to defeat a guy via decision who has serious finishing ability.

How likely is it that someone goes 5 rounds with Ronda without getting caught or armbarred?

5 rounds is a long time not to catch a big shot and get your shit turned off.
