Conor haters are missing the big picture

I disagree, my man. I feel that Conor and the UFC can spin this fight depending on how well he performs from now on. Right now, though, Conor is in difficult waters: he needs to face some SERIOUS competition in Edgar or even RDA, and that is not fun. He loses any of those, he is done.

If you talk a big, big game, you need to show up and do the impossible. Its what he has chosen for himself, and I hope he pulls that off. Its tough, though.

Yes absolutely. Numbers don't lie, those 3 fighters you've named are responsible for the highest gates in UFC history. They all did great things for this sport in terms of draw and PPV numbers, and sadly all 3 lost and lost rather embarrassingly. I thought maybe this is the one, maybe Conor is the one who could bring the numbers AND keep winning while he's at it.

The only one left is Jones, and oh guess what he has tons of haters too.
Jones is the only one that has built his own credibility in the cage, not through some major UFC promo push.
Jon is not some sort of "fan fiction" based on being mainstream media's flavor of the month.

I think also a big part that created his rise was being an international fighter from Ireland. The trash talking helped, but the following really sealed the deal. Is like GSP he had a full country behind him.

A guy who deserved to lose for all the trash he's talked about other fighters and for how bad he's making the UFC look lost. It was a good night and one of the best things that has ever happened in the sport.

Conor got exposed and lost yet again to a submission. He taps faster than Sage Northcutt.

Apropriate username.

TS, you're basically saying that it's sad to see the less capable fighter lose.
Maybe stick to watching scripted 'fights'.

Jones is legit, but so is Conor at 145. Let's not forgot now that he knocked out a top 3 p4p fighter who has not lost in 10 years.

Once in a life time fighter, we've had fighters who dominated the game before, Fedor, GSP, Andy, Bones and even Aldo, but none of them had the charisma and WWEsque antics that Conor has.

Shall I continue..?

Just because Conor was defeated, doesn't mean you get to shit on all-time greats who the 5 GOATS (Jones, Aldo, Andy, GSP, Fedor).

I don't get it. I mean, it's a pretty big picture, ok. But exactly what part of it are we missing in your opinion?

I agree TS, but really it's Conor's fault, and to a lesser extent his fans. People didn't want to see him lose because he was a despicable human being like Ronda. They wanted him to lose because he's such an egotistical, overbearingly arrogant and disrespectful asshole towards his opponents, and his fans' nuthugging was insufferable.

How did

How did I shit on them again?

You called Conor a once in a life-time fighter, then preceded to mention that fighters like Anderson never had charisma or antics (which i my opinion if wrong considering all the antics that Anderson got up to inside the octagon).

The only thing Conor was better at than any of those fighters you mentioned is the ability to speak well on the mic. That's all.

If Conor's attitude was better and he wasn't such a hypocrite I'd warm more to him.He stated numerous times after his loss to Diaz it helps greatly to be the bigger man and being heavier and bigger makes it so much harder to hurt Diaz.He suffers defeat, what does he say next?"back down to the division where everyone is smaller and lighter than me"what a joke.I can see him losing against quite a few fighters now, next time he starts his mind games and boasting it will be easy to bring him back to Earth.

Don't get me wrong I started having doubts about Conor especially his TDD and ground game after seeing the Mendes fight, I'm not delusional. After that mendes fight I know for sure there is NO WAY he could handle the top wrestlers at 170, no way.

What I'm trying to say basically is that it's startling to me so many people who want to see Conor fail. IMO if you're a real fan of MMA, if you love this sport, you would want to see him succeed.

He was turning it into the WWE though. He got mainstream coverage, but he also made the sport into a joke in some ways.

Lets turn it back into a sport where what you do in the cage matters more than working on stupid 1 liners to keep repeating.

Was not a sad night for me I've been rooting for tate to become champion since her 2nd fight with rousey and I've been a huge diaz fan since tuf so was a good night I don'treally care aabout the next level because ufc is not going away if it still cones onto my tv and delivers top notch fights hey they're in a good place

Dont get too dramatic, everybody will still tune in whenever he fights, thats the important part.
The unrealistic hype died down and that will finally help people to sober up
