Conor does the same thing every time, yet no one can stop his left, why?

Eddie literally said he tried to box with him, and wrestled after he got hit hard. Mendes didn't a little in the first.

Sure, Alvarez didn't shoot for the takedown straight away. But he did shoot.

Fights a fight. You can't win unless you engage your opponent in some way. And engaging leaves you vulnerable to counters.

How many pro's do you see just drop their hands and wait for the one two ko ?

Mendes is suspect as hell anyways .. all the lies, roids, and cover-ups couldn't save him
exactly my point.

Fighting guys he has the reach on (145lbs) or guys that were tailor made for him Alverez (guy is probably the most overrated guy in the UFC - gets wobbled and dropped almost every fight).

He had a speed advantage over Nate but notice that once he started to fatigue the fights got closer. In the first fight he quit and the second he had to resort to sporadic fighting and turning his back and running away to avoid having to fight the full fight.

And mayweather laughed at that "left that no one can take".
He's good when he's fresh but once people implement their game plan or put up a fight. He gets sloppy and gasses. #Tap

It's not only that, Conor feints well and understands distance even better.

The way you just simply explained the masterful artwork Conor does is comparable to calling the Mona Lisa a "pretty cool finger painting"

You completely shit on/missed his mastery of distance, timing, feints, traps, counters, etc............

its like saying Maia is a pretty good BJJ practitioner because hes decent at holding on to people. LOL!

lol@he lost power in boxing. It didn't help that he was fighting FMJ, one of the GOATS...whos been hit a total of about 3 times and never been seriously hurt.

TS be like, How is this possible!

Truth is, some people just got that thing they can do so well, it is extremely difficult to stop even if you know its coming, or its how he wins most of the time. If everything was a strategy away from being negated, you would never see fighters have their "signature" moves. Everyone knows when you fought Tyson, some vicious lunging Left Hooks were coming, yet still they dropped. Everyone knows when you fight Hendo, H-bombs were coming, when you fight Cro Cop, left high kicks are coming, when you fight Paul Harris, he is going to try to take your ankle home. Their are an endless list of examples of fighters who excel at a particular aspect of their fight game, that no matter how much you know its coming, stopping it is a whole other ball game.

Connor's left just happens to be in that category, do you know its coming? Yup, can you avoid it for an entire fight? Most who have fought him seem to think not.

Don't expect too much from most mma striking coaches.

Every time Conor counters with a left he dodges his head to the left in ducking motion, realligns, and throws basically a straight but it acts like a cross on the chin. Almost all his KO
s are like this, seems like a tendency you could learn to exploit. His kicks are for show, his right isn't that powerful, take away his left hand and you're solid. Diaz was rotating straight into these in both fights, and nearly won both however. He has timing and precision, but its the same go to punch EVERY time. Shouldn't a Professional MMA coach have a strategy to counter this?

In before generic Conor comments praising his power, he's more like Anderson, not super powerful but he hits the right spots with precision. Its why he lost his power in Boxing, hard to be accurate with pillows on your hands and pillows protecting their faces lol.

I literally stopped reading at “his kicks r just for show”

The teep to belly was one of the last moves that ended Chad Mendes, interrupted his gas tank and opened his chin, he destroyed Mendes all night with kicks and teeps

Less impacting but he also teeped away Alverez right before the left counter TKO

First off you're wrong about boxing but that's a different discussion. You are right about the mic being a one trick pony. I thi k just ts his reach and speed. AS was more about footwork and position. That's what separated as from the rest

He has a great feel for distance and uses his reach very well when it’s an advantage. Combine that with his accuracy, speed, and power and you get a pretty great striker.

He used some of those kicks to manage distance.

Truth is, Conor is elite for MMA striking. He's not elite for a boxer, and as we've seen, against an elite defensive boxer he's worthless. But against MMA opponents and their poor striking defense, he does very well for himself.

He obviously has dozens of exploitable weaknesses in his striking game, but MMA trainers and coaches haven't caught up to all the subtleties that boxing offers, as there is practically no exhibited knowledge of defensive boxing in MMA standup. Hell, Brian Ortega might be the best example of it, and he's just doing it because he's a grappler not a boxer and he knows he has to be very defensive with his standup. Almost everyone else is "take a shot to give a bigger shot" which works until it doesn't, aka the Gaethje Method.

Fighters that can use the same techniques over and over, do so because they’re masters at it and because the opponents continue to leave the openings.

You do realize that the Diaz bros have next level chins right? Nobody else on the roster besides (formerly) Roy Nelson could eat as many shots and still come forward.

As for Mayweather, yep Conor's striking does not translate to boxing. But it's still a feat that he lasted 33 minutes in there with him, whether Floyd carried him or not. As many have stated, Conor has precision and a sharpness to his punches.

Pressure=Force/area...........so with smaller gloves Conor can pin point the shots better vs dissipating it with bigger padded gloves. Frankly makes you appreciate power punchers like Mike Tyson who would probably have murdered somebody with smaller gloves.

All of Ronda's opponents were morons/sucked who lost by armbar (myth accepted pretty widely)
All of Rumble's opponents were morons/sucked who lost by punches (never suggested)
All of Palhares' opponents were morons/sucked who lost by leglock (never suggested)
All of Conor's opponents were morons/sucked who lost by left hand (brought up quite rarely, this thread being one example)
All of CroCop's opponent were morons/sucked who lost by LHK (only org warriors/Chael parrots)

Normally when someone is awesome in one specific finish fans understand they are awesome at one specific finish and that is why it can't be stopped. Sometimes people get pissed about it and shit on the people for losing to their opponent's best weapon, but usually there are ulterior motives for that (see Ronda/Conor/CroCop gripes).
