Conor before Jose fight: "The manner I beat him there will be no need for a rematch"

aldo was never knocked out before. he was undefeated for a decade with an almost 20 fight win streak.

if being knocked out in 13 seconds is such a common occurrence, it would have happened to him before. Just so happened the man who predicted it was the one who did it.

strange.

It's not a common occurance that's is the justification for a rematch.

he would have had the rematch if he wanted it when rda pulled out but he didn't want to move to LW.

Now he wants to move to LW all of a sudden, so we may see it sooner than later.

His entire point, which you seemingly missed, is that it isn't a common occurrence and as such is an anomaly; the thrust of why he wants a rematch.

aldo is a good enough fighter to avoid losing in a fluke fashion. he lost, it wasn't a fluke. and like I said, he had a chance for a rematch

Nobody is beyond making mistakes on any given night.

Jesus this bullshit again? Jose had just been cleared that week to train. Do you believe Frankie refused the fight as well?

You also realize that just because Dana offered you the fight and accept doesn't mean you get it right? Dana asked Frankie if he wanted the fight after Jose pulled out before 189, and Cowboy after RDA pulled before 196 neither got the fight.

he didn't really make a mistake. Aldo is a world class striker. Im not an aldo fan but I wont degrade his career by saying he made an amateur mistake when he's a world class pro. He was the victim of a perfectly timed straight left counter. It was more what conor did, not what aldo did or didn't do.

he didn't accept it though.

people seem to think a UD is a more legitimate form of victory than a KO. I don't know why exactly.

Thats what im trying to figure out. Why? At the end of the day its subjective witch is great. Just trying to understand other peoples mind sett.

It has happened before, and in less time.

The point is saying you're going to do something, and doing it isn't always indicative that there wasn't a modicum of luck involved. You can call a half court shot in basketball, and then do it. Does that mean you're so skilled that there's no questioning your prowess with a basketball? Or does it mean that while you may be very good, whether or not you could do it twice in a row would be a determining factor for just how skilled you are?

That same man who predicted it, also predicted first round knockouts of Siver, Mendes, and Nate.

the mind set is that if you don't like a fighter and they KO someone you can say it was a fluke. I guess

every aspect of fighting takes some amount of luck

It doesn't have to be a UD. But a prolonged beating is a much better indicator of who's better. Whether that prolonged beating lasts for less than a round(like GSP/Trigg), or a couple rounds(Jones/Shogun) or almost the entire five rounds(Penn/Sanchez). The implication is that when we see them match up for at least a few minutes we see ample time for their skillsets to shine. For adjustments to be made. For gameplans to reveal themselves.

One punch KO's are great, but they don't tell us anything we didn't already know.

Dropping your right hand while you over-commit, chin out, to a left hook isn't a mistake?

I disagree.

That's a cop out answer and you know it. Every aspect of life takes some amount of luck. Getting out of bed without being wrapped up in the blankets, tumbling out, and snapping your neck takes some amount of luck. Cooking yourself some toast for breakfast without a malfunction that sets your house on fire, burning you alive in the process, takes some amount of luck.

Let's skip the cosmic balance and stick to something a little more tangible, yes?
