Condit on GSP vs. Hendricks (video interview)

Condit thinks that GSP has the advantage because he is a more technical fighter, and calls Hendricks "a little rough around the edges." But he doesn't seem to take Hendricks' considerable power and wrestling ability into consideration...




Personally, I think that if GSP can't take Hendricks down consistently, we will have a new welterweight champion...

lol just because GSP couldnt take down Hendricks he loses? Hendricks has absolutely terrible striking. He ran at Condit and Kos throwing just left hands and not even setting his punches up. Though you dont think GSP could stay up and outstrike him considering GSP has outstruck EVERY OPPONENT he has ever faced. God damn mma fans are dumb.

I have an opinion. It is not the same as yours. Therefore MMA fans are dumb. (obviously coming from an MMA fan).
 
Hendricks had no problems finding Condits chin during his rage attacks.

GSP is not immune to get his chin checked. Especially in the 1st and second.

I think that's actually going to work in Johnny's favor.

Who has ever came after GSP throwing bombs? Most have been scared to get taken down and go down with a full clip after getting taken down.

Johnny has the wrestling and aggressiveness to make this interesting. Not sure if GSP was tired or sick during his last fight be he did slow down for once but Nick didn't have the power to catch him.

Where does everyone think Hendricks wrestling is so amazing and gsp won't take him down? Hendricks was taken down by brenneman, and arguably lost to kos and pierce who both outwrestled him.
 
Condit's awesome. But what was that at the bottom of the screen about Rory MacDonald facing felony assault charges in Iowa? Did I hallucinate that? April Fools stuff?

I think that is just what happens when people fight Nick, he tires people out. GSP got tired by trying to control Nick over the first 2 rounds then in the third Nick was able to go to the body a bit and I remember GSP being stunned by some punches in round 3.
 
I refer to Firas Zahabi on why Johnny Hendricks' Haymakers will be rendered useless against GSP...

That's what everybody said about Koscheck, ask him how that went. Condit looked way worse after the GSP fight than he did after the Hendricks fight. Hendricks is sort of becoming a one trick pony.
 
Hendricks' best, and in my opinion only, chance is to land that haymaker early. Unfortunately for him, he's going to be landing on his ass every time he throws it, as long as Georges remembers to blast the reactive double instead of telegraphing a proactive like he did against Diaz.

Personally I'm not interested in this fight at all, but there are not a whole lot of other top guys in WW that GSP hasn't defeated already. Hendricks deserves his shot.
 
Gsp is too much. Hendricks cant hang in a 5 rounder with gsp. He'll gas and get desparate throw only lefts and get.his td's stuffed.

Don't get so butt hurt, it's just his opinion.
And if hendricks has such crap striking how is it he's knocked out at least 2 top 10 WW's? Must be awful lucky. And standing toe to toe for as much time as he did in front of Condit? Yeahhhhhh.
 
GSP out strikes his opponents because everybody is afraid of his takedowns. When has anybody really put it on GSP rushing in throwing bombs like Hendricks did with Condit? I thought Diaz would but he still seemed timid. I don't think Hendricks is going to stay on the outside trying to avoid the takedowns like most others have. He's got a great chin and GSP doesn't have the ko power anyway. I think we're going to see a different kind of GSP fight this time, he will probably be able to adapt and pull off the win, but Hendricks is going to make him really work for it.
 
carlos has a point--gsp is more polished, but i think hendriks is grittier and poses a threat at anytime whereas gsp doesnt have the ko power to threaten johnny.
 
maybe we could go back a little while and dig up all the discussion pre GSP-Kos I and II, and insert Hendricks' name for Kos during all the talk of "elite wrestling" and "KO power", and how GSP will struggle to deal with it.

now explain why we should expect different, while keeping in mind that GSP decisively schooled Kos twice, while Hendricks *squeaked* by him (assuming you aren't among the group who feel Hendricks didn't even deserve that decision).

This.

And when he doesn't want to go to the ground, or his opponents don't fear going to the ground with him, his striking is nowhere near as effective. Recall his fight with Jake Shields. (who is not, BY ANY PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS, a good striker.)

He BARELY outstruck Jake, and it wasn't, by any means, definitive.

1. Why should we expect anything different when different fighters step into the octagon? Is that even a serious question? The point is that you CAN'T just assume that Koscheck and Hendricks are the same people. That is just a silly argument, and if you don't know that, then you should.

2. I am, in fact, one of the people who think that Kos actually won the fight against Hendricks, but I don't see how that means anything. Matchups make fights.

3. Just because you out yourself for using 'mma math', doesn't mean that you aren't doing it.
 
Carlos is one classy dude, speaks so high of the people who beat him and never puts up any excuse. Would love to see that man hold a belt one day soon.
