I'm receiving class lessons from a purple belt. Sometimes, a blue belt substitutes as the instructor. I get 2-3 hours of said lessons per week. I pay $180 per month.

    Is this right?

When I first made a thread about this, people told me this was a fair price. When I compared my tuition to what others were paying in other people's threads, they thought I was joking/trolling.

That seems pretty unfair. I pay $150/month and I can take up to 8 classes a week under a BB.

................. did I mention I'm bound by a 6 month contract and cannot be promoted unless I extend said contract to 2 years?

    What the fuck?

So were the people who told me this was a fair price the people running the academy?

If this isn't a troll thread, leave the gym and find a new one.

    Where do you live at?

Yeah. Unfortunately, I found that out after I enrolled.

To be promoted into the "advanced" class, I must prepare myself for a 2-year commitment. Otherwise, I must complete my 6 month contract "learning" the same moves over and over.

When I checked Yelp.com, the school (which is a chain) seemed to have fair reviews. What I found out later was that the only 5-star rating the school received was from an instructor there and a whole bunch of 1-star ratings were all "flagged".

    I'm bound by a 6-month contract.

Brooklyn; I don't see why this can possibly warrant a much higher price than all of you guys. Brooklyn isn't exactly the "city". Manhattan is.

Are you joking? Get out now, man, that sounds ridiculous. I pay 50$ a month and I take up to five classes a week under a brown belt & a black belt.

    I signed up very recently...

But why, in the previous thread I made, everyone said this was a fair price?

I couldn't tell you, maybe they're just trolling or mocking you.

What a wonderful art to be exploited for scamming potential talent of their money and time.

Sigh. So I guess I have to endure six months of "training" while constantly being pressured to sign a 2-year contract.

Where do you train at? Just wondering. If you don't want to name them, then don't.

I KNOW there are MUCH better schools than that in the Brooklyn area. You NEED to look around and leave that gym.

Not sure, I don't think they'd waste their time taking any legal action over this but who knows? There are a few lawyers in here who could probably help with your options in this situation.

How can I leave if I'm bound by a contract? :(

and what the fuck was with the other thread I made then?

They made it seem like 2 year contracts at $180 per month or higher were fucking normal.

-edit- I feel like I made a pact with the devil.
