Here's just a little two minute clip of me hitting the bag. I'm about a week into MMA training (muay thai and BJJ) and I absolutely love it. Obviously my form, technique, and strength is way off, but I just thought I'd upload and get as much help as possible. I'm a southpaw, but my only problem is my right hand (jab hand) is much weaker/slower then my power dominant hand which would be my left hand. I also have no idea how to kick but I suppose that will come if I keep going to class. I wanted to train longer but all of my knuckles are cut up and hurt everytime I punch. Anything I can do to protect them? Maybe bandage and tape?

both hands drop when you throw your punches thats a quick way to get knocked out

Makes sense, lol thank you. How does one throw quicker combinations while keeping their hands up?

training. doesnt help to post videos in an Internet after 1 week of training .
Dont get me wrong everyone has to start somewhere.

by doing it at a speed you feel comfortable first and getting the hang of it so you can get more coordinated with the movements with practice over time and then you can develop more speed.

Everytime you punch try and return that hand back to your hands up guard position.

also its good that your mixing up strikes that are to the body and head but looks like your punching the bag mostly at a height that would be at an opponents body.

so aim your head shots heigher on the bag, and work on keeping your hands up! Keep working bro and asking questions and your skills should increase!

Thank you so much for the advice man! This is kind of a random question but should I be training two martial arts or focusing on just one? I really like striking a lot. Also, how do I control my breathing? I have a hard time breathing with each strike it seems to get me gassed even more. I suppose that comes with practice as well.

I dont see anything wrong with training 2 or more at the same time. Just try and get super good at the basics. You asked about kicking previously, nothing wrong with working on it now but for example focus more on your footwork and punching before trying to perfect cro-cop like high kicks

in grappling again work on the basics before you get to invovled with working on flying armbars.

just like lifting or bench press you breate out when you push the weight up and breathe in more when you lower the weight. similar thing.

O and welcome to Sherdog!
