As a multilingual speaker, I am pained (by habit) hearing mispronounced names and laugh at others.

However, just how offensive is it to make a mistake? And does it really matter?

If so, how do you resolve it (assuming it is US soil)?

In the NFL the commentators refer to Michael Hoomanawanui as "Michael Ho".

They really need to put more effort into getting the names right for the marketability of the fighters. I watched a couple of the Euro games the Polish soccer team was in, and those announcers had no problem with saying Jędrzejczyk.
