I know we are all getting more and more excited for this fight by the day - whether it's to witness the beginning of the CHAOS era, or to watch RDA ruthlessly show the world that talk is cheap.

My question is: Who is the better fighter on the ground? Colby is the much stronger man, and was an All-American wrestler at Oregon St. while RDA is a 3rd degree black belt under "Caveirinha" Januário. I haven't seen Colby use any Jiu-Jitsu in the fights of his that I've watched, does anyone know his skill level? What are the odds RDA catches Colby slipping? Can he submit him off his back a la Ferguson/Lee?

Bonus: Dear. God. RDA's resume is 10x more impressive than the men Colby has beaten. That 4 fight win streak of Benson Henderson/Nate Diaz/Anthony Pettis/Cowboy is super impressive. For the Colby stans who scoff at RDA being a WW beating up on 155ers, let us not forget that Lawler used to be a MW and RDA gave him 25 minutes of hell. Colby's best win is an aging Maia. It will be interesting to see how much Colby has improved.

Colby was a division 1 all American rassler, while RDA got his black belt in a happy meal before he fled Brazil to America.

You do the math.

Wrestlers usually dominate. Colby should get the W

RDA almost guillotined Khabib.

Colby about to get choked out again lmao

dude I almost tagged you because I know you're a big Colby fan. But can you please give me some real analysis instead of this pointless schtick?
It is crazy how well wrestlers have performed lately, but he could have a problem with RDA on the feet.

RDA gonna bust that fool up I could see Colby controlling him for a little while, but there's not much threat of a Colby finish so RDA should have lots of time to work if Colby gets him down. It would be cool to see these two in a straight up grappling match.

In all honestly, I see Colby taking down rda early and often.

RDA’s pressure style is going to get him dumped on his back quickly, especially since he is at a reach/height disadvantage.

RDA’s striking power has never impressed me, especially at WW. Colby has never been dropped or rocked, so I see Colby being able to hang on the feet long enough each round until he finds the opening for the takedown. It’s gonna be a good fight. Shertards just cry at my threads so I’ll keep making them when he wins.

I want RDA to win but I think Colby might edge it out with his wrestling.

I don't think Colby can consistently keep RDA down if at all. RDA is a unit at 170. I think this turns into a striking match and RDA tears Covington apart.

I'm no jiujutsu expert but that doesn't look close at all. Didn't have control of the body.
It can be finished from there, but it's really rare; especially in MMA where it's hard to clasp your hands and easy for your opponent to grab a glove and defend. A lot easier in a gi.
It seems like RDA was trying to use it to get to butterfly guard and keep Khabib's posture broken and his hands busy. I would need to go back and look at the fight again to know for sure.

See, those were all great points! I agree with you that RDA is going to have to control his aggression. I assume that he will, because the biggest threat is going to be Colby's take downs. I also agree with you on RDA's power. If he rocks Colby IMO it is almost guaranteed to be from a head kick. But RDA's speed is excellent and he throws some of the better combinations in the division, so you never know what could happen. I appreciate the thoughtful response. Can't wait for this fight.

I think Colby goes hard in the first 2 rounds and starts to tire out and we see RDA take over rounds 3, 4 and 5 en route to a UD.

Sick guillotine. But no way RDA was or is good enough to pull that off against someone like Khabib.

I don't think so, no.

RDA has excellent top game but his bottom game Is nowhere near that.

He's one of those grapplers who's not all too impressive off his back so I don't see him submitting Colby there.

Colby Is gonna control where this fight goes.

When exactly has RDA demonstrated legitimate takedown defence?

I don't disagree at all. Sometimes the threat of it can force your opponent to make a mistake but not against Khabib. I definitely think RDA was using the position to control posture and try and get into a better position to either sweep or stand.
