Tired of hearing this propogated by the masses.

Let’s be clear, an interim title =/= an actual title AT ALL. You are not a champ, you’re the temporary champ. Naturally, when you get matched up to fight, you say yes, or that title is no longer relevant.

Colby was offered a fight, he turned it down for medical reasons, good reason? Yes, does this mean he is still champ? No! The moment Woodley stepped into that cage, his interim title became completely irrelevant.

Lets say you are at a corporation, and the boss is out so they put you in position to be the “interim boss”, and opportunity comes up for you to be promoted but you don’t take it. Well, when the real boss comes back your title is now irrelevant, and it does not matter if someone else gets the fight.
Now, had the boss never come back, sure, you get promoted to real boss (see Whitaker), but if he does you get one shot- take it or leave it, you hold NO cards

The only exception may apply for huge draws in the sport, due to their value to the company, they may get to bend a little, but Colby does not qualify for this category.

Funny thing is, Colby is a big fan of The Donald, and The Donald was infamous for breaking his word and contract throughout his career. Here is just one example. Interim Championships are often used as just #1 Contender's belts these days. In Colby's case it definitely was, so for him to be stripped is definitely unfair.

Of course it was unfair but anyone who thinks the UFC is fair needs a reality check. It's like Askren said. How could Colby, or anyone, believe a single would coming out of the bald fuck's mouth?

My take is that modern UFC has never honored a fair and objective matchmaking system. I find this to be no more outrageous or upsetting than, say, not giving Aldo his instant rematch or stripping Ferguson after his injury, or giving Diaz and Gustafsson title shots coming off of losses while Hendricks and Bader had to keep fighting, and so many more instances that I'm forgetting.

That isn't to say that it isn't problematic but I'm over getting worked up over it. This is how UFC operates. The fighters, agents, fans, and everyone else know this. This kind of thing should be a turning point but people will soon forget, or like Dillashaw and his title shot, the aggrieved party will be given just enough concessions to forget about it. This sucks and it might not be fair but let's not leave it at this and instead use it to rally support for a fighter's union or something else to force UFC's hand and get them to stop being shitty. Until that happens, I'm not going to get bent out of shape or feel bad for anyone.

Why give him the fucking interim title and skip over him?

They offered him a fight in 6 weeks notice it he had to get nose surgery. He asked for an extra two months. What about the times Woodley flaked out?

Fuck the UFC for screwing over yet another fighter.

And before anyone wants to cry about what I said, I’m not even a Colby fan. I just think it’s unfair what they’re doing to him.
