He’s obviously no longer top tier UFC caliber so him taking a step down might help his chin re cooperate. Or he gets blasted again. Either or is possible.

I think he would get put old cold in BKFC, so thats says it all really.

Yeah he'd get ko'd. Cody didn't always had a bad chin. But due to his bad defense he suffered some nasty KO's so now he has bad defense AND bad chin.

His reflexes still seem good but it won't matter because you're gonna get hit in a fight. Best option for him if he still wants to do this is to go all in on grappling. Fight like Maia lol.

Certainly wouldn't be champ material there either given how a guy that's just as fast, but even more technical and versatile, in Horiguchi got iced by Sergio Pettis after fighting a perfect fight for the most part.

He'd probably beat guys like Hill and maybe Magomedov if his defensive wrestling is on point, but I think the book is out there on how to beat Garbrandt.

tbf that's Sergio's only KO ever so I'm not sure he'd KO Cody just because he managed to hit that on Kyoji.

If he swings like before, he will fall like before.
He should change his game completely, and he will be a complete fighter before he turns 45.

Bellator ???? Lol .At this point , where his chin is , Cody could get knocked out back on a regional circuit.

Coker not interested . When Cody done with UFC, me thinks that'll be it. I hope he was smart with his money cause he'll be working. Hopefully he'll find something mma related.

Cody made about 2 million in the UFC in the last 5 years, not counting sponsors or any endorsements. I feel like he would need to have fucked up his money really badly to get to a point where he'll need some shitty job but I could be wrong.

Yeah - I dont know what he did with money but he was so young and on top of world . You definitely can live off 2 mill ( if he bought a modest home and invested the rest ). I hope he was sensible- doesnt seem like a bad dude.

He just needs to take a step down from competition. He hasn't sorted something out right in his training and he keeps fighting in title eliminators or contender's matchups. The promotion did give him a step back down in Assuncao but his next fight was against Font. Font is a badass that gave Aldo a tough fight. Promotion probably expected Cody to steam roll Font so they can make the Aldo/Cody fight to produce a title contender.

He's got 2.5m Instagram followers and some real sponsors. He did an ESPN and Geico commercial for the UFC. I feel like the days of some former champ being a manager at the local burger king or worse is just kind of over, he can coast off this even making bad decisions for like another decade easy, if not much longer. Im sure he bought a house, cars, jewelry, even if he didn't invest well.

Not sure if the UFC cuts him but his current contract is 135k/135k per fight, then theres Venum sponsor money, fight bonuses, outside the UFC sponsors and endorsements (which I know people with smaller instagram followings that make a living). Im sure he will fight a few more times for no less than 6 figures.

His best days seem to be past him.

Fighters like Cody that rely upon speed, athleticism, power, but average technique and skills tend to really fall off once they fall out of prime or lose their chin.

I feel like that also is what happened with Chuck, JDS, and countless others

Yeah the division change seems to me to be the ideal opportunity to remove him from the rankings so you can give him a non ranked 135 opponent like Rani Yahya or something.

Bellator does have solid lower weight divisions, obviously. He'd probably be up there, but not champ or anything imo.

Bellator has a pretty good BW division if he decides to move back up. Don’t know how their flyweight is though.
