Cody and TJ are tough mofos! Very fast and elusive. Does anybody see a KO happening in this fight?

Garbrandt put on the performance of his life against Cruz and dethroned the bw goat. Very good boxing skills and elusiveness. But didn´t put Cruz away.

But TJ himself is a beast. His handling of Barao twice and of Lineker on his last one were awesome. Great kicks and one of the best set ups and takedowns out there. But didn´t put Lineker away either.

But I don´t know about a finish in this fight. We´ve seen TJ's chin being tested but It´s been a looong time since that Dodson tko... and Cody's chin still hasn´t been tested yet, since he´s undefeated.

How do you guys see this fight ending?

KO?/TKO?
SUBMISSION?
DECISION?

I think they are too good to get KOed atm. They know eachother very well too.

I see em cancelling eachother out

I think TJ will win. Cody only beat Cruz cuz TAM figured out his style after getting their ass whopped by him for years. I think TJ outclasses Cody.

probably not, but both actually actually do hit pretty hard - its posible - they're also both fast

I think Tj will be much more effective than Cruz was on the offensive end and will win a decision

Cody's chin has been tested and he was put on in the amateurs. That's no knock to him, shit happens and he's been immaculate ever since.

The likely outcome is a tough fought decision, but both of these guys have good power for BWs. Envisioning TJ landing a head kick or Cody cracking him with a punch isn't hard.

I'm big a TJ fan, and maybe I'm reading too much into the Lineker fight, but the last 30 seconds have me really worried for this upcoming bout. TJ comfortably had the decision won, so maybe he was just taking it easy, too easy, because when Lineker put him against the cage I saw a lot of hard body shots land that were opening TJ up to other punches.

The big X factor for this fight, in my mind, is: will TJ try to take Cody down early, and will he succeed? The first round is going to be really telling.

I agree with TJ being more offensively effective than Cruz. That can be a decisive factor. Let´s not forget Cruz did land on Cody multiple times. If TJ lands one of those punches or kicks that he hit Barao with, Cody will be in trouble. Same can be said if Cody hits him with the shots he put Almeida and Mizugaki away with. I just don´t think either one will land it flush.

Cody was starched in the amateurs, has his chin actually ever been tested in the UFC ?

I'd like to see that fight actually announced first.

TJ fan as well, and that's exactly what I saw too. Rooting for our boy though.

Cruz landed a couple of shots flush on his chin tbf, Cody looked composed when it happened and seemed to not get hurt by them, maybe he'll get TKO'ed by a flurry of shots can't see him dropping from one big shot.

I wouldn't rule out the KO, both guys have the skills and power to do it. It only takes one slip or mistake and either one might get caught.

Oh bloody yes!

Very underrated fight!

edit:eek:h yes, the questions.. TKO, I can pick randomly but you can do it yourself ;D Hmm, maybe I pick Cody.. He is fast and he has very solid reflexes, that will be an important factor against such dodgy guy as TJ..

This is a legitimate Superfight. This is the pinnacle of the sport right now, imo.

I think it goes to a decision and agree with Torrid that if TJ gets a KO it's via headkick while if Cody gets it it's via punches.

TJ's the most effective when he comes forward and throws combinations, but when that offense ends and both of them plant their feet TJ's defense hasn't been good. Barao and Soto were landing with the power hand on him then, and this also happens when he's (close to) stationary against Lineker, who's a brawler (if you can't avoid hooks, you won't dodge the full arsenal with more speed).

Cody's inside boxing and power come into play when TJ ends his offense and pauses, his defense isn't good up close, and that's where I see Cody doing damage and winning the fight.

I want to root for Cody but I think TJ will get the nod at the end of the fight. It's going to be a decision. It's just like the Cruz fight but the difference is TJ have sharper strikes that can make a difference compare to cruz's strikes against Cody. It'll be a damn good fight. Can't wait foe the built up and hopefully they can have some good shit talk. Lol
