Already posted. However, Cobrinha just posted on his facebook that he's keen on the idea. Rafa posted the link itself on his facebook; looks like they're both up for it. Personally, I can't wait.

No time limits, I think it'll eventually come down to who has more heart/cardio and judging by their 40 minute war at ADCC, it could definitely last close to an hour. These guys are so evenly matched they seem to stale-mate every time they fight.

The no time limit, points and such is to discourage doing things like that. The point of this event from what I'm hearing is for both opponents to open up their games and really go at it. I'm giving Cobrinha the win in this one.

Isn't there some bad blood between these two? Does anyone know the story?

rafa won't open up the game, he even said that if he played a free flowing game against cobrinha he would lose

Looking forward to it...should be awesome. Will most likely start out slow, as both will be cautious. My prediction is Mendes winner by submission ;)

you mean like at ADCC? :icon_conf

Rafa said he played to win, he used a strategy to give him the maximum advantage over cobrinha under the rules available, when those rules change so does his strategy

no more bad blood other than they are the 2 best in the world at this weight class.

guess you could say rafa is the heir to cobrinha's throne.

i got a good feeling Cobrinha would win this. Cobrinha by bow and arrow choke or toe hold Are the rules the same as ibjjf or adcc?

This will be SICK. I think the fact that it's submission only is enough to prevent an overkill of 50/50. The advantage system was a motivation in the Mundials which is gone. For this, if you're in 50/50 and you can't get the sub, there is no motivation to remain there.

Got to wonder whether Rafa will accept it. He knows Cobrinha isn't going to the worlds again, so if he refuses this he ends their competition on top... or (as it were) sitting forward with a slight advantage in 50/50. :icon_chee

Rafa is immune to toe holds.

People need to watch Rafa vs Cobrinha at ADCC. Rafa was relentless with choke attempts and calf slicers, always trying to take the back from wherever he could. Monster performance (from both).

I think Rafa will accept. The first place I saw this was on Rafa's facebook, posted by one of the brothers (Rafa or Gui).

Its kind of hyped up. In an interview Rafa said that he has no personal issues with Cobrinha and thinks he is a great fighter. It is really just a media thing.
