Coach Kavanagh speaks detailed fight prep for 202

So basically they just started training like everyone else has always been training, lol

No, barely anyone in the UFC trains like that.

You have Edgar who is one of the best fighters in the world turning up to Gi BJJ classes to prepare for Aldo. He should have much more specific training, guys brought into mimic Aldo etc.

There's only a few guys who train as specifically aa they should be.

I guess they don't have irony where you're from either.

I've supported Conor since Cage Warriors days when he would come on MMA Junkie Radio and be hilarious. Rooted for him in almost every UFC fight, including against Aldo, and will root for him against Nate. Have said countless times he's one of the best things ever to happen to our sport.

Sure I like to give a little needle to those who tip over from fandom to embarrassingly loveblind hero-worship, but what else is the internet for? Aside from porn I mean.

How is saying Kavanagh is a good coach fanboyism? You're acting like I said he's the best in the sport.

I was being rational and you were being a hater. Comparing him to fucking Edmond? Ridiculous.

He sure loves the attention. gives so many interviews always

Here's the problem i have with Kav. 'Win or learn' is stupid. You should learn from your wins too. Clearly he as a coach got complacent (and he admitted as much after 196).

Anyway as someone mentioned earlier in the thread I still see delusion from McMumor and Son. Conor thinks he was two punches from finishing Nate. Kav says they are where they need to be in terms of technique.

Edmond trained someone to become a 7-defense UFC champion.
Kavanagh trained someone to become a 0-defense UFC champion.

I guess you are pretty rational. When you look at it without bias it does seem kind of silly to compare.

Again, sorry the facts burn you so bad. Hope it doesn't keep you up at night.

Please.

Like there's any comparison between the calibre of opponents Conor and Ronda beat.

Ronda was handed the belt and ran through a shallow, undeveloped division.

Nothing Ronda did was even half as impressive as Conor's 13 seconds knockout of Aldo.

Please. Like Edmond had the calibre of fighter Kavanagh has to work with.

Goobers like to discredit Ronda as if she was a 205 lb man running through those 135 lb girls. Except she was a 135 lb girl running through other 135 lb girls.

It's a level playing field son.

She had a huge advantage with her judo, they couldn't handle it and there were no legit strikers to expose her on the feet until Holly came along.

The division was undeveloped which allowed her to just run through them. I give her credit, just nowhere near the level you have to give Conor.

Conor fought a much higher calibre fighters and beat a champion who'd dominated that division for years and was considered the p4p number 1 at the time.

Really, 16 sec knockout of Alexis davis, 14 sec sub on cat and 34 second ko on betche? I think Aldo was an awesome win but Ronda did it several times.

Kavanagh giving Edmond run for his money.

None those fighters are even remotely in the same league Aldo. Not even close.

Ronda is the Aldo and holly the conor in this situation. Ronda got embarrassed after dominatin her division as did aldo. Conor went on to lose his next fight as did holly.

He's not literally saying you can't learn from a win as well. The motto is more about the reward.

How dumb do you have to be not to train for a specific opponent? The fact that professional mma coaches aren't embarrassed to say this stuff in public blows my mind.

Then again, this is the coach that said Conor would become the greatest of all time
