Asking the atheletes to boycott does not mean people aren't also mad at Apple, Elon and others. One can want the atheletes to boycott and Apple to decouple.

This is the most annoying blurb that some people use. I'm guessing you've never set foot in Iraq.

Anyways, much of that "1 million people dead" was due to Iraqis killing other Iraqis. Also Iraqis using women and children as human shields.

That's actually a great point you made about how USA funds and arms rebel groups all over the world, many of them jihadists, using them to do their dirty work and take control of target countries. This is now the most used tactic by America when trying to overthrow another country, along with using sanctions to further impoverish people and turn them against their goverments. But aside from this, are you really trying to defend or downplay the devastation caused by the US invasion of Iraq? The one that was initiated based on lies. As a result of the occupation over 1 million people died in Iraq. Why defend the people who are manipulating you out of your money and using your tax dollars to drop more bombs on more countries than any other nation on Earth has ever done before? If America stopped existing overnight, the world would be magnitudes safer for everyone. That fact should be a wake up call for people to be more critical of their governments actions. The people of America are not to blame for the evil actions of their government but it gets a little harder to believe this when there are so many Americans actually condoning and justifying these acts. People need to wake up, learn more about the world, understand that there is a lot of propaganda in America. The CIA is not your friend and politicians are not trustworthy. Research and learn and free America from a state of perpetual war.

If American officials attended , people would be saying how wrong it is to attend the event in a country waging genocide , threatening neighbors and recently engaged in hostage diplomacy. If they don't attend people still bitch that this is just virtue signalling.

I feel the people whining are the sort that are simply looking for a reason to complain and will do so no matter what a person does.

China threatens the US with retaliation over diplomatic boycott of Winter Olympics

Responding to the White House announcement, China’s Foreign Ministry said it had launched “solemn representation” with the US and vowed to take “resolute countermeasures.”

“Out of ideological bias and based on lies and rumors, the US is trying to disrupt the Beijing Winter Olympics. This will only expose its sinister intention and further erode its moral authority and credibility,” ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a news conference Tuesday.

“The wrong move of the US has undermined the foundation and atmosphere for China-US sports exchanges and Olympic cooperation. It has shot itself in the foot. The US should understand the grave consequences of its move,” Zhao said.
