I keep picturing posters on here who are so vehemently against the slightest mention of Pro-wrestling/MMA being linked Tapout wearing tough guy fans.

It's ok to acknowledge the link.
It doesn't mean you're a kid fan who believes in fake wrestling. Calm down.

they are very similar.

the rules are similar beside the 3 count.

Strikes, submissions, have both been seen in PW. The only real difference is the exaggeration and the fact that its scripted.

i'd say pride was more in line with the PW angle while early UFC didn't have the spectacle vibe. at it's core though, pro-wrestling.

ufc can actually master the formula, since the fights are real, most fans think everything is real (promotional advantage) and fans obviously care about personalities. just my 2c
