Many people are talkin shit about CM Punk.

But I wish to set everybody straight.

Formal wrestling training means JACK SHIT when you're an elite ATHLETE.

    Ask GSP.

GSP out wrestled elite wrestlers cuz he's an athletic wonder. Punk is too.

Not just anybody can do WWE.

It takes more than a big mouth. Tons of dudes have big mouths.

Every sherdogger on this board would be kicked out of pro wrestling school on the first day. It's harder than fuck. It's not for the faint of heart.

Becoming a top pro wrestler is reserved for the most elite of athletes.

Pendred's not even in his league.

Watch Pendred vs. Dodger. That might have been the least skilled fight in UFC history. It might be impossible to find 2 less skilled athletes on the planet.

    Punk should face Brandon Thatch.

Punk would fuck his shit up via GnP and make a name for himself. But they'll prolly make him fight a no-namer for his 1st fight.

Thatch doesn't really make sense coming off two embarrassing losses, but I also don't think Punk should be thrown to the wolves against the likes of Woodley, Hendricks, etc.

A guy like Maia makes perfect sense because while Maia is obviously better on the ground, Punk's BJJ is good enough to survive, and on the feet he has a major edge.

GSP outwrestled elite wrestlers because he developed his entire wrestling game around the sport of MMA.

That, and he trained technique excessively with Olympic teams.

Sure, he had athleticism. But he also trained more wrestling than many wrestlers do in this sport.

As for your CM Punk comments, you're an idiot.

Are you for real? Maia would finish a guy with no real experience in 30 seconds or less.

Phil has the look of someone who gets injured very often and easily. Also he is coming in old, worn and on a downslope. He has no energy let alone technique to display during his sparring sessions- ground or standing. He's a slow, droopy, tired man with the physique of a reasonably active 50 year old

That said, there must be a reason everyone in his weight class is ducking him

Are you fucking insane? Punk is at a yellow belt level and Maia toys with blackbelts. Maia would also outstrike him.

    Maia would rape Punk

On what basis is Punk's BJJ good enough to survive against probably the best pure BJJ guy in MMA?

I think the fight that makes the most sense right now is Jon Jones. Jones is coming off a long layoff, and Punk's elite athleticism and top-notch training camp makes for a nightmare match up for Jones. Think of the PPV numbers.
